Provincial People's Committee works with the Department of Irrigation and World Bank representatives

On June 26, Mr. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting and worked with the delegation of the Department of Irrigation and representatives of the World Bank on the assessment of the implementation of the Program to expand the scale of rural sanitation and clean water based on the results of World Bank loans for the period 2016-2022.

The program "Scaling up results-based rural water and sanitation" funded by the World Bank, implemented from January 2016 to December 31, 2022; the loan closing date is July 31, 2023, aims to improve hygiene behaviors, increase sustainable access to clean water and rural sanitation in the provinces participating in the project. In particular, the specific goal in Ninh Thuan province is to increase coverage of hygienic water, ensure that most schools and health stations in the area have hygienic latrines, adequate water supply systems and handwashing facilities. Through implementation, 13 projects have been completed and put into use; specifically, 19,199 water connections have been connected (131%), 6 communes have achieved commune-wide sanitation (120%); Constructing and renovating 8 health station sanitation facilities, 74 school sanitation facilities for 34,078 students, 902 household sanitation facilities (achieving 100% of the target). To date, disbursed capital has reached 222.93 billion VND (achieving 97% of the total investment capital), of which ODA capital disbursed 202.34 billion VND/210.22 billion VND (achieving 96%) and counterpart capital disbursed 20.58 billion VND (achieving 99.8%).

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, thanked the working delegation for supporting the province in implementing the project works; at the same time, he highly appreciated the significance of the project to the province; the construction and communication solutions have changed the living conditions and awareness of local people, contributing to building a sustainable new countryside. The province is committed to implementing and managing the use of the works to achieve the highest efficiency; ensuring and fully complying with procedures and regulations; continuing to do a good job of communication to raise the awareness of the community about using clean water and protecting the environment. In the coming time, with synchronous investment in irrigation works, the province will strengthen the connection, promote the water supply systems as well as invested works to achieve the highest efficiency, ensuring the goals and criteria of the project program.

The delegation highly appreciated the province in implementing the project works, ensuring the set goals and requirements. The province needs to update and complete the report with full information so that the delegation has a basis to evaluate and summarize the implementation of the Program.

* On the same day, the working delegation inspected the field of the project to supplement and expand the water supply system for 8 domestic water supply systems in Ninh Phuoc district, including: Phuoc Son, Phuoc An, Lien Son - Bao Vinh, Hoai Trung - Ta Duong - Thai Giao, Phuoc Hau, Da Trang, Huu Duc and Hau Sanh water supply systems.
