According to China Central Television (CCTV), Zhengzhou City, the capital of Henan Province (China), was under a red alert for snowstorms until mid-morning on December 11, forcing schools in the area to close. Zhengzhou Airport was also closed until 11am.

As of 7 a.m., a total of 134 road sections in 12 provinces, including 95 highway sections, had been closed due to snow and ice. Some trains in two areas of Shanxi Province were also suspended.
It was the first significant snowfall this year in much of China, outside mountainous areas and in the northeast near Russia's border with Siberia.
Beijing Public Transport Corporation said 187 bus routes were suspended that morning. Some subway lines were added during the morning rush hour.
