Vietnam team in easy group in 2024 Asian women's futsal qualifiers

On the afternoon of October 17, the draw ceremony for the qualifying round of the 2024 Asian Women's Futsal Championship took place. The Vietnamese women's futsal team is in the No. 1 seed group with Indonesia, Thailand, and Uzbekistan. Therefore, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team do not have to face very strong opponents.

The Vietnamese women's futsal team is in Group D with Taiwan (China), Macau and Myanmar. Overall, these teams are still at a disadvantage compared to the Vietnamese girls. The goal of winning a ticket to the final round is not out of reach for Trinh Nguyen Thanh Hang and her teammates.

In the qualifying round, teams compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings. The top two teams in each group and the third-placed team with the best record will advance to the finals. Hosts China, defending champions and runners-up Japan and Iran will not have to compete in the qualifying round. The finals will take place in China in the summer of 2025.

The strength of the Vietnamese futsal team is built on a force of professional indoor players and many players playing on the 11-a-side pitch. In addition to the pillars of Thai Son Nam TP.HCM such as Thanh Hang, Thuy Linh, Phuong Anh,... Coach Dinh Hoang called many famous stars who used to play for the 11-a-side women's football team such as Thu Xuan (Than KSVN), Tran Thi Thuy Trang (TP.HCM), Bien Thi Hang, Tu Anh ( Hanoi ), Hai Yen, Lan Mai (Phong Phu Ha Nam).

The Vietnamese women's futsal team is ranked 11th in the world and 4th in Asia. In the friendly tournament held in China in July, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team won 1 match and drew 2 matches. In the tournament that just ended in Thailand, the Vietnamese women's futsal team won the championship after 3 wins and 1 draw. The only draw was against host Thailand (ranked 6th in the world) after leading until the last seconds of the second half.
