(Dan Tri) - The 12 teams participating in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship have been determined. Of which, the Vietnamese women's futsal team is in the second seed group along with Japan.
In the final round of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers, the Vietnamese women's futsal team drew 2-2 with Chinese Taipei. With this result, we led Group D with 7 points after 3 matches and got a ticket to the final round.
The remaining teams that qualified are Thailand, Bahrain, Indonesia, Australia, Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong (China). In addition, three teams automatically qualified without qualifying: China (host), Japan (runner-up), Iran (champion).
The 12 participating teams are divided into 4 seed groups (3 teams each) based on the FIFA rankings. The Vietnamese women's futsal team is expected to be in the second seed group along with Japan and Uzbekistan. At this time, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team is ranked 11th in the world.
The three teams in Pot 1 are China, Thailand, and Iran. The teams in Pot 3 are Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong (China). The teams in Pot 4 are Bahrain, the Philippines, and Australia.
Being in a high seed group gives the Vietnamese women's futsal team a big advantage before the draw. That could help us go further in this tournament, to have a chance to attend the World Cup.
The 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Championship will take place in May 2025 in China. The 12 teams will be drawn into three groups of four teams each. The top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
This year's tournament also serves as the qualifying round for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup. Except for the Philippines, the World Cup hosts, the top three teams will qualify for the women's futsal world championship.
The best result that the Vietnamese women's futsal team has ever achieved at the continental level is 4th place in the 2018 tournament. Therefore, if they want to win a ticket to the World Cup, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team need to make much more effort.
