The above comment is from British expert Alexander Mercouris on YouTube channel Duran.
“ Zelensky was able to extend his term without elections and for a while it seemed like his position was secure. I think at that time he had a lot of support from the United States. But in my opinion, now this period has ended, in the context of the inevitable collapse in Kursk and, most likely, the collapse of the front in Pokrovsk, ” said Mercouris.

According to this expert, it is extremely important for President Zelensky to maintain the position of the Ukrainian armed forces in Kursk during his visit to the United States.
“ Mr. Zelensky’s trip to New York is largely about the situation in Kursk. If the Ukrainian offensive collapses, it will be a complete disaster for Mr. Zelensky. It will only reinforce the growing doubts in the West about his ability to govern Ukraine in this crisis ,” Mr. Mercouris stressed.
Critical situation on the eastern front in Ukraine
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Alexander Syrsky, reported to President Zelensky about the critical situation on the eastern front. According to the source of the Ukrainian Telegram channel “Resident”, the Ukrainian General Staff is unable to remedy the situation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Syrsky emphasized that the loss of Kurakhovo and Ugledar (Donetsk) is a possible scenario in the coming month. At the same time, according to him, Pokrovsk is likely to hold out until the new year.
“ General Syrsky believes that it is urgent to begin mobilizing additional troops and conducting missile strikes deep into Russian territory in order to limit the enemy's capabilities in other directions, ” the channel's source noted.
The moment Russia unleashed fire to destroy Ukrainian tanks in Kursk
The Russian Ministry of Defense has just released a video recording the scene of its forces attacking and destroying Ukrainian tanks at the Kursk border.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, reconnaissance forces discovered Ukrainian tanks hidden in a forested area in Kursk, apparently equipped with anti-UAV nets. The Russian military then used guided munitions to attack the enemy equipment.
Video footage captured by a UAV shows the Ukrainian tank seemingly surviving a direct hit to the ammunition chamber, but being destroyed by a powerful secondary explosion.
Although Russian officials did not specify what type of weapon was used to destroy the Ukrainian tank, footage shows the heavily armored vehicle likely being bombed by an Orion medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) UAV. The UAV appears to have fired a Kh-BPLA laser-guided missile that hit the tank’s turret, causing it to explode.
According to experts, MALE UAVs were widely used by both sides at the beginning of the conflict, but they were later considered ineffective because Moscow and Kiev forces installed different early warning and air defense systems across the frontline.
However, the situation changed when Ukraine launched a cross-border raid on Russia’s Kursk. The Ukrainian military did not have extensive air defense coverage and is believed to have lost several air defense systems in the area in recent weeks.
