From 2025, University of Medicine and Pharmacy will add an admission method for students who already have a university degree.

On August 29, at Nguyen Van Dao Hall, after congratulating more than 649 new students of the 2024-2025 school year, Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh - Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and teachers in the Board of Directors had a session to share and discuss the orientations and study plans of the students during their time at the school.

In the solemn and warm meeting, Professor Le Ngoc Thanh shared his heartfelt words with the new students. Those were the efforts that every student needs to have, the happy memories, the hardships in the profession and the pride of a doctor who "practices hard to become talented". The professor emphasized: Having the awareness to study medicine, in the minds of students there is a good direction. Society still says that medicine is a special profession that needs special treatment, however, in the current context, those working in the medical field have not enjoyed that special "privilege", but because of that, teachers and predecessors do not forget their responsibility to inspire students.

In his message to the new students, Professor Le Ngoc Thanh said: "How to become a good doctor? You must be honest, hardworking, practice hard to become talented, be fluent in foreign languages, information technology, know how to enjoy music , sports and actively participate in social work. If you are diligent and dedicated, you will succeed. Medicine is a special field, you invest in this but cannot calculate that, the most important thing is to be satisfied with yourself."

At the meeting, the school teachers were also happy and joyful to welcome more than 649 students from all over the country who have continuously studied, tried hard to pass the entrance exam to the school, and determined to pursue this difficult but also proud path of study.

Professor Le Ngoc Thanh shared that pursuing a career in medicine is difficult and arduous, and that love for the profession alone is not enough. Not everyone can follow this path, so there are students who have dropped out halfway. Some people even quit their jobs after graduating and could not stand the pressure. The 6-year university study period is only the beginning of the path to becoming a doctor. Therefore, according to the Professor, students who choose to study this major need the support of their parents and even friends.

Talking about the upcoming enrollment innovation, Professor Le Ngoc Thanh said that the school has studied the training models of Europe and the US. The school is approaching the American enrollment method, which is that students graduate with a university degree and then study Medicine. From 2025, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi plans to apply an additional enrollment method for students who already have a university degree to apply for admission to the Medicine and Pharmacy majors. Accordingly, for this group of students, the Medicine major will study for 4 years and the Pharmacy major will study for 3 years.

Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh also emphasized 6 IMPORTANT CRITERIA that students need to remember throughout their studies and future careers:

1. Honesty in the practice of the profession (this is a consistent criterion because when we are good people, of course we will do a good job);

2. Never stop learning and striving to improve (hard work - practice makes perfect);

3. Always be aware of good medical ethics in medical practice (colleagues and patients);

4. Improve foreign languages ​​and practice information technology to integrate with the flat world era, the 4.0 technology era;

5. Exercise, enjoy sports and music (only with good health can you study and work well, when you come to sports and music, your soul will be relaxed and refreshed → you will work effectively);

6. Be responsible to the community and actively participate in social work.
