Valuable documents of Southern compatriots regrouping to the North

In August 2022, the memorial site for Southern compatriots regrouping to the North was started construction on an area of over 40,000m2 next to Lach Hoi port, Quang Tien ward, Sam Son city. The project is invested by the People's Committee of Sam Son city, with a total investment of nearly 255 billion VND.

The memorial area includes: a monument of the gathering ship and a large bow-shaped relief; a house displaying artifacts, a reception area, a documentary screening area and auxiliary works; 3 camps simulating living quarters and a memory lane.

After 2 years, the project was completed with the highlight being the monument of the Ship Gathering to the North made of reinforced concrete with a surface area of 3,200m2 and the highest point being the bow of the ship, 12m high. The budget for this item is nearly 80 billion VND.

This place displays nearly 400 valuable documents and artifacts related to the process of compatriots, cadres, soldiers and students from the South gathering in the North to live, study, work and do business in the North since 1954.

Sharing with the press, Mr. Trinh Dinh Duong, Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum, said that the above artifacts were collected by the Museum over the past several months. The exhibition space is arranged into 6 main themes.

According to Mr. Duong, with many valuable historical artifacts and documents, after being put into operation, this exhibition space will become an attractive tourist destination, a red address for cultural education and revolutionary traditions for the young generation.

As planned, the 70th anniversary ceremony to welcome compatriots, cadres, soldiers and students from the South to the North will officially take place on October 27 at the memorial site in Sam Son City.
