According to Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hoang Ngan, Head of the Faculty of Economics and Human Resources Management (National Economics University), the greatest benefit when students participate in scientific research is their maturity, in addition to a series of skills accumulated and practiced such as teamwork, presentation, communication skills, etc.
The scholarship awarding ceremony and welcoming ceremony for the 66th freshmen class with the theme Solata of the Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management (National Economics University - NEU) took place on the evening of October 25. This is an annual event that takes place every year and is also the motivation for generations of students to nurture the dream of standing on stage and being recognized for their efforts and hard work during their studies and training at NEU.
Nguyen Thuy Linh, K63 Human Resource Management, Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management is the co-author of two topics awarded scientific research scholarships this time. Linh shared: “4 years ago, at the welcoming ceremony for new students of K63, I really admired my seniors who received scientific research scholarships. From then on, I set goals for myself and tried hard every day.”
With the topic "Personal value system, orientation to build personal brand and satisfaction in students' life", Linh said that it was guided by the instructor. The topic "The impact of leadership style on the silent resignation of Generation Z office workers in Hanoi" originated from the reality of life when the wave of silent resignation after Covid-19 occurred. Passionate and determined, Linh and her group of friends spent time researching a lot of documents at home and abroad, conducting surveys, interviews, running data... under the guidance of the instructor to complete the research.
To balance between studying and scientific research, Linh shared her experience that is to focus on studying in class, learn as much as possible, when the exam comes, just review the lesson instead of having to study from the beginning. She spends 2-3 hours each day on scientific research and can completely divide her study time reasonably, some people can even arrange time to work part-time.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hoang Ngan said that for many years, students of the Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management have achieved good results in scientific research with many awards at the school and regional levels. In particular, the experience from the lecturers in the faculty is that the teachers are always enthusiastic in guiding students from research orientation to implementation methods. This is not an easy task because the students are young and do not have much experience, so they need a lot of support.
“Scientific research is also one of the tasks of lecturers. Teachers can support students by letting them participate in their research projects, thereby accumulating more knowledge and experience… I have noticed that after each scientific research session, students mature a lot. Even though they may not pursue a research career in the future, what they learn in this process is very meaningful and useful” – Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hoang Ngan said.
In order to encourage students to participate in scientific research, in recent years, the National Economics University as well as the Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management have had a policy of giving extra points to students with high achievements. However, this is not the decisive factor, but more importantly, through the research process, students learn how to solve problems step by step, how to negotiate and listen to each other, present, etc.
According to the Head of the Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management, even during the classroom teaching process, lecturers also pay great attention to integrating different skills for students to practice through group exercises, presentations, and project implementation. Thanks to changes in teaching methods, the lessons improve the quality of interaction between lecturers and students, creating excitement in learning and practicing necessary skills to meet the requirements of employers.
At the ceremony, the Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management awarded certificates and scholarships to 57 students who had excellent achievements in studying and training. Of which, 8 groups of students received scientific research scholarships, 6 students received study scholarships, 4 students received excellent freshmen scholarships and 11 students received union work scholarships.
Sending a message to the students, Dr. Ngo Quynh An, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Human Resource Management said: “The scholarships awarded today are not of great value, but we hope they will contribute to giving you more motivation and goals to strive for during your studies and training at NEU.”
