Truong Van Vu shared that thanks to his own efforts in treatment, the support of doctors and the spirit of volunteering, he overcame.
Talking about his long journey, Vu said that when he first went to Ho Chi Minh City to take the university entrance exam, when he arrived at Mien Tay bus station, Vu was enthusiastically advised and introduced by the students of the exam season support team. Vu told himself to try to pass the university entrance exam to study in the city and during the summer break, he would register to participate in this activity.
True to his dream, in 2009, Vu registered to participate in the exam support program at Mien Tay bus station. In 2010, Vu founded the Net But Xanh Club, where he regularly organized gift giving events during Tet and Mid-Autumn Festival, supporting disadvantaged students so they would not drop out of school.
"With the trust and support of organizations and individuals, the Green Pen Club has carried out many projects such as sponsoring 170 students in difficult circumstances with a total budget of nearly 2.4 billion VND; the Meal for Children project at the Vietnam Charity Class in Tonle Sap (Cambodia) with a budget of over 4 billion VND; the Bridge and Happy House construction project has built 13 houses and 8 bridges for nearly 2 billion VND...", Vu could not hide his happiness.
In addition, he and the members of the Net But Xanh Club also organize other activities such as the Happy Tree Garden project, Spring on the Street - giving Tet gifts to the homeless, transporting clean water to provinces affected by drought and salinity; emergency relief and support to overcome storms and floods, emergency support for difficult circumstances with serious illnesses...

During those nearly 15 years, according to Vu, it was a long journey not only filled with fragrant flowers, but also with difficulties in operating costs and social pressure that made him want to stop at times.
And there is also another challenge with yourself.
When he was diagnosed with cancer, Truong Van Vu was completely devastated. Holding the results in his hands, he felt lifeless. From the hospital to his home, he did not want to contact anyone, locking himself within four walls.
"It's horrible to think back! I didn't leave my room and didn't contact anyone. I was always thinking, regretting, and not knowing where to start, what to do next, and how to do it...", Vu recalled.
After a period of separating himself from life, full of deadlocks, he chose to face it and gradually returned to normal life: going to work, meeting friends, participating in charity work, organizing programs...
"Once, while visiting patients at Tien Giang mental hospital, I gave them meals as gifts. Near the end of the program, I looked at their faces and smiles with an innocent, thoughtless expression.
Then I saw images of disabled people still trying to overcome their fate, supporting themselves... From then on, I wondered why disabled people are still optimistic about life, I still have a full body, a healthy mind, but they give up", Truong Van Vu asked himself.
With the love of friends, relatives and doctors, Vu bravely faced and treated the disease. As if by a miracle, Vu gradually recovered, and now he happily said that the doctor concluded that he was "almost completely healthy".
Truong Van Vu was also assigned as the permanent head of the Southern National Volunteer Network, coordinating clubs, teams, and volunteer groups in the South from 2019 to present.
Talking about volunteer activities, the 8x leader of the coconut land affirmed that if he were alone, he could not help many people, but when many people with the same passion join together and support them, it will be better, more effective, and can realize the volunteer goal, helping more people.
