On October 15, the leaders of Thu Dau Mot University (a public university under the People's Committee of Binh Duong province) spoke out about the illegal collection of 37 billion VND from students in two school years: 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
This was audited by the State Audit at Thu Dau Mot University, period 2015-2021.
Speaking to a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Dr. Doan Ngoc Xuan, Principal of Thu Dau Mot University, said that the amount of money the school wrongly collected from students after the audit conclusion was paid into the budget.

Mr. Xuan said he had just started working at Thu Dau Mot University (from August 2023 - PV), so he did not know clearly when the school collected the wrong money from students but only heard the report.
According to Mr. Xuan, the amount of money collected incorrectly from students was due to the fact that during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, the school was not financially autonomous, so it collected additional money to buy supplies and chemicals for students' practical lessons.
The auditor then proposed two options: one was to return the money to the students, the other was to pay it to the state budget. Instead of returning it to the students, the school chose to pay it to the state budget because many students had already graduated.
According to Mr. Xuan, he has assigned the school's Finance Department to explain this issue in detail.
It is known that Thu Dau Mot University is training about 18,000 students. From 2022, the school will begin to be financially independent in regular expenditure.
