The principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School (Quang Ngai) directed the collection of fees in violation of regulations, was denounced by parents and received disciplinary action, causing him to be reappointed and continue to be the principal of this school.

On January 7, Mr. Nguyen Dang Vinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district, Quang Ngai - confirmed that he had completed the procedure to appoint Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang, principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School, to continue as principal of this school.
Parents accuse principal of illegally collecting fees
Ms. Dang was once accused by parents of a series of charges that parents said were not in accordance with regulations.
Specifically, in 2023, a parent of Nghia Thuan Primary School filed a complaint to the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district, reporting that Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang, in her position as principal, had directed and illegally collected a series of fees, totaling hundreds of millions of VND.
In the petition, this parent accused the principal of directing the collection of incorrect and inappropriate amounts of money from 2019 to 2023.
Receiving the complaint, Tu Nghia District People's Committee directed departments and offices to work with the Board of Directors and Principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School to verify and clarify the content of the complaint.
Through the results, Tu Nghia District People's Committee concluded that the incorrect and inconsistent collection fees that parents reported were correct; at the same time, it requested the school to return the incorrect collection fees to parents.
Afterwards, Tu Nghia district disciplined the principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School.
The incident has not stopped yet. In December 2024, parents continued to send a petition to the authorities of Tu Nghia district, claiming that the principal did not follow the instructions of the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district.
This parent said that according to the conclusion, Nghia Thuan Primary School must return the entire amount of money collected in violation of regulations.
The school has refunded the wrongly collected amount, but many parents have not received the money and there is no information related to the refund from the Board of Directors and the principal.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Dang Vinh, Chairman of Tu Nghia District People's Committee said, "Any parent who has not received the refund from the school can submit a petition for the district to consider and handle."

Re-appointment according to regulations, will transfer work to stabilize the school
Regarding the matter of Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang being disciplined but still being reappointed and continuing to work as principal, Mr. Vinh said that Ms. Dang was disciplined with a reprimand in 2023. According to regulations, in a 5-year term, if 4 years of completing tasks well, 1 year of being reprimanded and still being assessed as completing tasks well, then she is eligible for re-appointment.
According to Mr. Vinh, the noise happening in the educational environment is sad. Therefore, when implementing the appointment process, the district assigned the vice chairman of the district People's Committee and the Department of Internal Affairs, the Department of Education and Training to work directly with the school. Implement the process of taking a vote of confidence and reappointment. The result of Ms. Dang's vote was nearly 100%.
"The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee unanimously reappointed Ms. Dang to continue as principal of Nghia Thuan Primary School. To stabilize the school's operations, the process of transferring Ms. Dang to another school will be carried out in the near future," said Mr. Vinh.
At the same time, it is affirmed that before transferring, the district will direct an inspection to see if the school has returned all the wrongly collected money. If there is still money left, it is absolutely not possible to transfer, the district will request that it be completed.
