Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son has just signed a decision to recognize the position of principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education for the 2020-2025 term for Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hieu Giang.
Thus, after 4 years without a principal, the board of directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education has been completed. Since May 2021, when the previous principal retired, the school has not had an official principal.
Before being recognized as principal, Mr. Giang was assigned to be in charge of the school and acting principal many times.
He was appointed by the school board to be in charge of the school twice. The first time was in June 2022 and the second time lasted from November 2022 to the end of October 2023. Then, he was appointed by the school board to be the principal from November 1, 2023 to October 31, 2024. He was again appointed as the principal from October 2024 until his appointment.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hieu Giang was born in 1972 and graduated with a PhD in 2003 from Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic). After graduation, he has been working at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education since then.
He has held the following positions: Deputy Head of Science Management - International Relations - Postgraduate Department, Deputy Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Deputy Head of Training Department, Vice Principal and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Vice Principal and Head of Information Technology Department.
He was appointed Associate Professor in 2012.
The Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education currently has 3 members. In addition to Principal Le Hieu Giang, there are two recently appointed Vice Principals, Quach Thanh Hai and Chau Dinh Thanh.

The Prime Minister has just issued a decision to re-appoint Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Education and Training. The term of appointment is 5 years.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong was born in 1968 and has a PhD in Literature. In 2020, he was appointed by the Prime Minister to the position of Deputy Minister of Education and Training. Previously, he was Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province.
Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong is in charge of the following areas: planning - finance, facilities, inspection, general education, continuing education, national and international general education quality assessment and evaluation, student streaming and career guidance, directing high school graduation exams, developing the team of teachers and education managers, Vietnam Education Publishing House, and the National Foreign Language Project.
He is the person who directly directs the innovation of general education - implementing the 2018 general education program; directly directs the development and promulgation of the high school graduation exam plan from 2025; advises and directs the development of the draft Law on Teachers...
Besides his position as Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong is Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training.
