The first university to hold a competition on a virtual reality platform

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (Tan Phu District) in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology and other units has just organized the opening ceremony of the "Food Innovation and Development 2024" competition with the theme "The Future of Food - Future of the Food Industry".

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of co-organizing units, leaders from 28 universities and colleges and more than 700 students interested in the contest.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that "Food Innovation and Development 2024" is a national food product development competition, aiming to develop young talents in the Vietnamese food industry; at the same time, helping to raise students' awareness of major world issues such as food security, green agriculture trends or climate change.

This is the first technology competition in Vietnam to take place simultaneously, both in person and online on a virtual reality platform. Right at the opening ceremony on the morning of June 1, delegates, guests and contestants had the opportunity to experience the utilities on this technology platform.

The virtual reality platform is designed to resemble the actual space of the school with 3 main areas: auditorium, training hall, and exhibition hall. Through the contest link, candidates can go to the auditorium to attend the opening ceremony; walk around the exhibition area to see products and projects of 28 universities and colleges across the country; and learn about the participating businesses.

From the semi-final round, the competing teams will simultaneously display their products and creative ideas on this platform. Visitors are free to explore and exchange information with the competing teams. At the same time, visitors show their interest and love for the competing teams.

People can tour the halls and learn about the competition's activities through the virtual reality platform.

The competition will take place from June 2024 to December 2024, including 3 categories: healthy products; products that create positive impacts on the community, solving food security problems; products that solve specific challenges raised by businesses.
