According to the schedule, on the afternoon of December 18, there were classes for two classes, D16B (students of the Faculty of Nursing) and X15 (students of the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine, course 15), but the lecture hall was empty. In total, these two classes had 32 students, including 10 Lao students.
A representative of the Faculty of Basic Medicine - one of the two faculties that wrote the minutes of temporary suspension of teaching and sent them to the school's Board of Directors - said that they had notified students to take a leave of absence beforehand.
"After receiving the minutes from the faculty, the principal talked to us over the phone, asking us to inform the teachers to extend the teaching time until December 31, so that the school and the province can find a solution. After that, I talked to the teachers in the faculty, and everyone agreed to continue working until December 31, on the condition that the school must have a written response. However, we have not yet received a document from the principal, so the teachers in the faculty have temporarily stopped teaching," said a representative of the Faculty of Basic Medicine.
On the afternoon of December 18, Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan - Principal of Quang Nam Medical College - said that he still had not received information about the two lecturers suspending classes and would verify it. Mr. Tuan commented that the lecturers' suspension of teaching affected the students.
Also on the afternoon of December 18, the school principal continued to hold a meeting with the faculties. It is known that the salary owed to lecturers is 4.9 billion VND, social insurance is 1.4 billion VND and allowances are 1.3 billion VND. The total debt is 7.6 billion VND.
As reported by Dan Tri , 17 staff and lecturers of Quang Nam Medical College sent a notice of collective resignation to the school's leaders. These staff members belong to the Nursing Department and the Basic Medicine Department.
The notice of suspension of work started from December 18. The reason given by this staff and lecturer is that the school owes them salary and allowances for 6 months, from July until now.
During the time of unpaid wages, because they did not want to affect students' studies, staff and lecturers still went to school to work.
Up to now, the time of unpaid wages has been prolonged, the lives of many lecturers and staff have fallen into very difficult situations, unable to continue working.
The faculty met and unanimously decided to stop working from December 18 until the school resolves the salary and allowance regime.
