(People's life) - With an airy, fresh space, beautiful natural landscape, friendly and comprehensive treatment and care environment, Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled is a warm and affectionate common home for nearly 300 disabled people, most of whom are disabled children from 27 northern provinces and cities with 13 different ethnic groups.

Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled was established in 1976, located in Thuy An commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi. This is a closed, comprehensive rehabilitation center for both physical and mental health, closely combining medical rehabilitation and special education, career guidance, vocational training, social work, with a team of experienced, compassionate and responsible staff, always creating the best conditions for the disabled to be rehabilitated, soon reintegrate into the community, reducing the burden on families and society.

Protecting the environment is protecting patient health

With a total area of ​​37,400m2, a diverse green tree system, spacious and clean infrastructure, a flower garden, lush ornamental plants and an entertainment area of ​​over 5,000m2, fresh and airy air, Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled is an ideal place for rehabilitation for patients.

In order for patients to feel secure in their treatment and for their families to feel confident when sending their children to the Center, over the years, Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled has always focused on building and preserving a green - clean - beautiful natural environment and landscape, contributing to supporting treatment and rehabilitation work.

Talking to reporters of the Labor and Social Affairs Newspaper, Mr. Dao Xuan Quyen - Deputy Director of the Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled said that the Center's leaders and staff regularly inspect, disseminate, remind and urge the maintenance of environmental hygiene, workplaces, study areas, dormitories and unit grounds. Educating staff, employees and people with disabilities about the awareness of maintaining public hygiene as well as personal hygiene, complying with environmental hygiene regulations, waste classification, etc.

At the same time, organize for staff, employees and disabled students to do general cleaning every Saturday afternoon (sweeping, mopping floors, toilets, sweeping cobwebs, etc.). Focus on planting and caring for trees and flower gardens to ensure a green - clean - beautiful environment. Regularly check the drainage and wastewater systems of the unit, check the roof, clean up trash, leaves, etc.

The Center also cooperates with volunteer groups of students from schools and organizations at home and abroad to volunteer and clean the Center.

On the other hand, the Center also signed a contract with Song Hong Clean Vegetable Investment and Development Joint Stock Company to collect and treat household waste; with Military Hospital 105 to treat medical waste. Purchase and timely supplement items for environmental sanitation such as: garbage carts, trash cans, brooms, etc. There is a garbage collection area after daily collection.

In addition, the Center's leaders also pay great attention to food safety and hygiene, providing food with the right and sufficient standards to serve people with disabilities; ensuring that the material and spiritual life of people with disabilities is constantly improved and enhanced.

Not only does the campus have a green, clean, beautiful and airy space; the working, treatment, care, vocational training and career guidance areas at Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled are built quite spacious and modern.

The rooms are designed to be self-contained and convenient with full bathrooms, water heaters, air conditioners, fans, lighting, etc. In addition, there are classrooms, libraries, art rooms, entertainment areas, sports areas, etc. to serve all the needs of eating, sleeping, resting, studying, working and entertaining of the disabled.

Every year, Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled provides regular care, treatment, and rehabilitation for nearly 300 disabled people from 27 northern provinces and cities; Direct intervention and therapy for nearly 500 autistic children; Organizes 07 traditional vocational training classes with over 70 students such as: sewing, knitting, making handmade products, silk flowers, producing fragrances, producing gemstone paintings, fire pen paintings... Products made by disabled people are accepted by the market, consumed well, and are an opportunity for disabled people to be independent when integrating into the community; Counsels over 180 cases of disabled people and their families; Effectively implements training projects for disabled children; Organizes classes to teach life skills and living skills for children with intellectual disabilities and deaf-mute children; Coordinate with many units and individuals to organize cultural activities, exchanges, sports, gift giving, etc. to contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of people with disabilities.
