Last night, December 20, at the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City (UEF), a theoretical training session took place for volunteers to support the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024. There were a total of 100 UEF students who volunteered to support throughout the qualifying round and the final round of this exciting football tournament. What is special is that out of these 100 students, 85 were volunteers for the first season in 2023. Impressed by the exciting and engaging football tournament in the student community organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), this year, they continued to register to become volunteers. Many beautiful memories were recounted during the training session that just took place. Interestingly, we heard the lovely love story of two young people Thai Dinh Nam and Nguyen Mai Thy, both 2nd year students at UEF. Thanks to volunteering to participate in logistics work at the 2023 Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament, they found their other half.

Confession before the final day

Thai Dinh Nam is a student majoring in Banking and Finance. The young man from Nghe An said that before joining the organizing committee to support the logistics of the football tournament, he had not met his classmate and schoolmate. But during the gatherings of UEF volunteers, together with them, doing volunteer work such as coordinating cheerleaders, carrying stretchers, holding flags, picking up balls... at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium, he began to see that his friend Mai Thy had something very special. "Mai Thy has a strong personality, at that time she dyed her hair red, which was quite impressive, I also thought she was very pretty so I started to get to know her and talk to her," Dinh Nam recounted.

Nguyen Mai Thy, a student of Multimedia Communications, a girl from Binh Dinh, also said that when she saw Dinh Nam talking and getting to know her, she also responded and gradually liked him because the guy often cared about buying her water to drink, invited her to eat at the canteen after the football match on the field ended. Gradually, Dinh Nam and Mai Thy talked more. Not only did they meet and support each other in the work of volunteers for the football tournament, they also made appointments to go to coffee shops, watch movies... Until one day, after the date to watch a movie, Dinh Nam gathered all his courage and texted his schoolmate to confess his love. "It was 1:23 a.m. on March 19, 2023, a few days before the final match of the 2023 Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament. I still remember it clearly, because before that, I also liked Nam but didn't dare to say it first. On March 19, I only dared to hug him and then run home. A while later, I saw Nam texting. I immediately agreed," Mai Thy laughed as she recalled the memorable memory. On March 26, 2023, at the end of the final match of the 2023 season, when the Hue University team had just been crowned champion, the young couple Dinh Nam and Mai Thy, along with hundreds of fans who loved Hue University, celebrated together on the field. The couple also took an unforgettable photo in their lives. On the volunteer shirts of Mai Thy and Dinh Nam, there was also the signature of player Tien Linh - a special audience of the final match, who is also the idol of both.

This year, the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 will kick off on January 6, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City. Both Dinh Nam and Mai Thy will continue to be volunteers for the tournament, so that they can play their hearts out with the matches, share drinks in the hot sun of Ton Duc Thang University Stadium, and invite each other to eat delicious meals at the canteen on the university campus in District 7. Both Dinh Nam and Mai Thy believe that their beautiful love during their student days gives them more motivation to overcome the pressures and stresses of studying and working. The love of the two young people - along with nearly 100 other UEF volunteers - is more memorable when they have beautiful memories associated with student football.
