The ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition is an opportunity for Vietnamese artists and artists from ASEAN countries to exchange and introduce new achievements in graphic art creation in the region; introduce the culture, country and people of each country in a united and dynamic community. This is an artistic activity to enhance understanding and solidarity of ASEAN and at the same time, it is an opportunity for the Vietnamese public to enjoy selected graphic works by contemporary ASEAN artists.
The ASEAN Graphic Painting Exhibition is a meaningful cultural and artistic event of 2024 for domestic and foreign artists, with the spirit of promoting diplomatic activities in the ASEAN bloc through the Exhibition.
After 3 times of organization, the 4th ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition, chaired by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition and the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, in coordination with relevant units, will take place in Vietnam, expected to open in December 2024 in Hai Phong City.
The contest is open to citizens of ASEAN countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
The topics and creative content of the Contest are about life, people, natural landscapes, peaceful countries, solidarity, cooperation, friendship and contemporary life issues of ASEAN countries that are of common concern and sharing.

The works participating in the 4th ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition - Vietnam 2024 were created from 2020 to present, the graphic works of printed paintings belong to the following genres: Relief prints: wood engraving, rubber engraving, cover engraving and other relief printing techniques; Intaglio prints: metal engraving, mica engraving, film engraving, photosensitive intaglio, collagraph; Flat prints: lithography, litho on metal, litho on wood; Transparency prints: screen printing, stencil printing; Monoprints; Prints using other techniques: cyanotype (blue print), gumprint, digital prints; Multidimensional prints: print installation, print book art, multi-layer prints.
This year's competition is "judged" by the Art Council consisting of 07 members who are prestigious professionals in graphic design in Vietnam and 01 to 03 international experts.
The contest is organized into 2 rounds. Round 1 - Round of selecting works to display through photo files, authors will send photo files of the works via email for selection ([email protected]). Each author can submit a maximum of 03 works, each work is 01 JPG file, clear quality (5MB-300dpi) with 01 text file with full information about the author and work (according to the form), each photo file when sent to participate must clearly state the file name in the following order: Author's name - Work name - year of creation - printing technique - size. The Organizing Committee will receive photo files of works from August 1 to August 31, 2024.
Round 2 - Authors send their selected graphic works from round 1 to the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition - 38 Cao Ba Quat, Ba Dinh, Hanoi - Vietnam for exhibition and award judging. The Organizing Committee will send a notification of the results to the participating authors so that the authors can send their works to the Organizing Committee by October 15, 2024.
The works must meet all professional requirements for printed graphic works with the author's name, specific number of prints, year of creation on the printed paper. The author lives in Vietnam, the work must be framed for display. Authors living in ASEAN countries can only submit unframed prints.
The Organizing Committee also stipulates that the size of the submitted works is determined by the size of the painting: not smaller than 40x40cm, not larger than 200x200cm. In case the work consists of many panels, the size of each panel must not exceed the above limit. Size of multi-dimensional printed works (installation, book art): area not exceeding 2m2...
The 4th ASEAN Graphic Art Exhibition and Competition - Vietnam 2024 will award prizes including: 01 First Prize; 03 Second Prizes; 05 Third Prizes; 07 Encouragement Prizes. Each author will receive only 01 prize of the Exhibition. The award-winning works will be announced and awarded on the Opening Day. The foreign authors who win the official prize will be sponsored by the Organizing Committee for round-trip airfare, food and accommodation to Vietnam to receive the prize. In addition to the Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, the Organizing Committee will mobilize socialized funds to award additional Prizes named after the sponsoring unit outside the official award system.
Participating in the Contest, the works that win prizes and are displayed in the exhibition will receive certificates and prize money; Vietnamese artists will receive exhibition fees according to current regulations of the State; the right to use for propaganda and introduction for non-commercial purposes will belong to the Organizing Committee, the author still retains personal rights. After the Exhibition ends, the Organizing Committee will be responsible for returning the works to the authors in ASEAN countries.
At the same time, authors whose works are displayed will be awarded certificates and 01 exhibition vocabulary book./.
