Mid-Autumn Festival is an occasion when people's demand for food increases in both quantity and variety, especially cakes, jams, candies, beer, wine, soft drinks... Therefore, there are many potential risks of food safety (FS) causing food poisoning and food-borne diseases.

The Department of Health - Standing agency of the Provincial Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety requested departments, branches and localities to strengthen the implementation of food safety measures for the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2024.

The provincial food safety interdisciplinary inspection team inspected AlohaMall Supermarket selling moon cakes in Ha Hoa district.

In particular, strengthen information, education and communication on food safety on mass media and other forms suitable for the Mid-Autumn Festival 2024, with peak concentration time from August 29 to September 18.

Establish an interdisciplinary inspection team on food safety at all levels, organize inspections of compliance with food safety laws for food production, processing and trading establishments, giving priority to establishments producing and trading moon cakes, confectionery, soft drinks, traditional foods produced in craft villages, small establishments; food service establishments, street food... in the management area.

Implement tracing and recall of products that do not ensure food safety and strictly handle violations of food safety, publicize the name of the facility, address, and type of violating product on mass media.

Continue to direct the implementation of Directive No. 17-CT/TW, dated October 21, 2022 of the Secretariat on strengthening food security and safety in the new situation, Directive No. 17/CT-TTg dated April 13, 2020 of the Prime Minister on continuing to strengthen the responsibility of state management of food safety in the new situation, Document No. 3113/BYTATTP dated June 7, 2024 of the Ministry of Health on strengthening food poisoning prevention and control and Document No. 2178/UBND-KGVX dated June 3, 2024 of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province on proactively strengthening the implementation of measures to prevent and handle food poisoning.

At the same time, medical examination and treatment facilities in the area; Center for Disease Control; Medical Centers of districts, cities and towns: Based on the functions and tasks of the unit, proactively develop plans, standing forces, means, supplies and chemicals to be ready to provide emergency aid and treatment to patients when food poisoning occurs in the area; investigate and determine the cause of poisoning, and implement measures to prevent the risk of food poisoning and food-borne diseases.

Strengthen monitoring of food contamination risks, food poisoning and food safety incidents, and prepare investigation and handling plans when food poisoning occurs in the area.
