Donating 'Vietnam Bookcase' to Swiss University

On October 15, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University, organized a ceremony to present the “Vietnam Bookcase” and items typical of Vietnamese culture and history to the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW).

This is a project built by the University of Technology, including 47 books, 4 paintings and 6 typical items introducing typical features of Vietnamese culture and history.

The book provides readers with accurate and detailed information about history, culture, and society, including famous novels and short stories of Vietnamese literature, helping readers better understand the life and psychology of Vietnamese people from the past to the present.

Along with that, typical items include paintings, photos, ao dai, ao tu than, ao ba ba, khan ran, conical hats, lotus flowers, bronze drums, etc. to help viewers better understand the art and culture of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University, said that the school has cooperated with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland for nearly 20 years, mainly training under the MBA-MCI Program (Master of Business Administration).

In addition to academic expertise, the two schools introduced Vietnamese and Swiss culture through their students. This event not only strengthened educational cooperation between the two schools but also provided an opportunity for cultural exchange, allowing the host country to better understand Vietnamese culture, people and history.

“Vietnam Bookshelf” is designed with artifacts, literary, artistic, historical works…, some works have been translated into English.

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong presented the symbolic plaque “Vietnam Bookshelf; along with items typical of Vietnamese culture and history to Professor Dr. Andreas Hinz, Director of the MBA Program of the Faculty of Business, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.

The “Vietnam Bookshelf” is located in the library of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. According to Professor Andreas Hinz, this bookshelf is a valuable source of documents for students of the University in particular and Swiss people in general when learning about the history and culture of the Vietnamese people.
