BTO-On the morning of April 25, the Provincial Museum held a closing ceremony for a class teaching traditional weaving techniques of the K'ho ethnic group in La Da commune (Ham Thuan Bac).
Attending the closing ceremony were Mr. Tran Xuan Phong - Deputy Director of the Provincial Museum, along with leaders of La Da Commune People's Committee, artisans and 20 students participating in the teaching class.
The class to teach traditional weaving techniques of the K'ho ethnic group in La Da commune took place from April 15 to April 25, 2024, implementing the project "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021-2030. During the apprenticeship, the students were instructed by two dedicated local artisans, who taught them basic knowledge about skills and processes from going to the forest to exploit raw materials (rattan, bamboo, reed, etc.) to the techniques of shaving bamboo strips, weaving and finishing all kinds of products.
According to the assessment of the artisans and the Management Board of the teaching class, the students participated actively, followed the rules and study hours well, made a lot of efforts, tried, absorbed, learned, grasped and initially made products such as baskets, winnowing trays, and baskets... These are tools close to the daily life, production and activities of the people.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Tran Xuan Phong hoped that the artisans and students would continue to pass on their skills. At the same time, he would actively coordinate with local authorities to promote and encourage people to maintain the traditional weaving profession in order to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the nation.
On this occasion, the Provincial Museum awarded certificates to 20 students participating in vocational training.
