(NADS) - On December 18, at Hai Phong City Theater Square, the Central Propaganda Department presided over and coordinated with the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, ministries, branches and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists to organize the Award Ceremony and Exhibition of the 2nd National Art Photography Contest "Fatherland on the Shore" - 2023 on the theme of the homeland's seas and islands.
Attending the award ceremony were comrades: General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department.
Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches.
Speaking at the award ceremony, General Phan Van Giang, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense, congratulated and commended the Central Propaganda Department and relevant agencies and units for their careful preparation and successful organization of the contest. This year, the award ceremony and photo exhibition were held for the first time in Hai Phong city, one of the strong and dynamic development centers of the key economic region of the North and the whole country, contributing to spreading and deepening the meaning of the National Artistic Photography Contest "Fatherland on the Shore of Waves".
General Phan Van Giang hopes that the contest will continue to arouse national pride, patriotism, and raise awareness of preserving and firmly protecting the country's territorial integrity among all classes of people.
To continue to effectively carry out propaganda work on the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the forces need to thoroughly grasp and unify the ideology and awareness of the position, role and importance of the sea and islands for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland throughout the Party, the entire people and the entire army, in conjunction with effectively implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution 36-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018 of the 12th Party Central Committee on the strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; arousing the spirit of solidarity and patriotism in every Vietnamese citizen, joining hands with the task of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Promoting the success of the contest and exhibition "Fatherland on the Shore", the authorities need to promote the role of guiding artistic activities, ensuring compliance with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, while creating motivation and space, encouraging artists to create many valuable works of culture and art, serving the country's political tasks. In addition to artistic creation activities, promoting the culture of Vietnam's seas and islands, it is necessary to pay attention to and promote marine scientific research to serve the sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy.
General Phan Van Giang noted the need to build a force for information and propaganda work on the sea and islands with political courage and understanding of sea and island work, promote news routes, articles, photos, and reports promoting marine culture, marine economy, and marine scientific research with new, creative, and appropriate approaches in current conditions, creating a widespread influence among all classes of people, fostering and mobilizing the participation of generations in propaganda work on the sea and islands, and the dynamism and creativity of the young generation in propagating and promoting the image of Vietnam to the world.
At the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense and comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, awarded two First Prizes to authors Cao Minh Det (An Giang) with the single photo "Bright spot of green energy" and Nguyen Van Dao (Nghe An) with the photo series "Unique Phuc Luc Ngoat Festival".
The Organizing Committee awarded 4 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes, and 10 Consolation Prizes to the best single photos and photo series in the contest. The Organizing Committee selected 154 works for exhibition.
The contest received 9,595 entries from 2,590 authors from 63 provinces and cities, nearly double the number of entries compared to 2021. The entries were elaborately invested, closely following the contest theme, with creative thinking, many new and impressive angles. The photos not only have high artistic value, but also demonstrate the love for the homeland and country, the attachment of generations of Vietnamese people to the sea and islands of the Fatherland, reflecting the achievements of economic, cultural, social development, national security and defense in the seas and islands of the Fatherland over the half-term of the 13th National Party Congress and 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on the strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, vision 2045./.
