HCMC: No adjustment to application time for public 10th grade admission

Although the admission scores for grade 10 were announced 3 days earlier than originally scheduled, the application period for grade 10 is still from July 11 to August 1. After 4:00 p.m. on August 1, candidates who do not submit their application will have their names removed from the admission list.

On the afternoon of July 7, speaking with SGGP Newspaper reporters, Mr. Vo Thien Cang, Head of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training) said that although the admission scores for grade 10 were announced 3 days earlier than originally planned, the time for parents and students to submit admission applications remained unchanged.

Thus, compared to the previously announced plan, the application period for grade 10 admission will still take place from July 11 to August 1.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that parents and students must submit their admission applications to the high school they have been admitted to. After 4 p.m. on August 1, candidates who do not submit their admission applications will have their names removed from the list of admitted students.

Candidates participating in the 2023-2024 public grade 10 entrance exam

According to regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, admission documents include:

- Application form for junior high school graduation exam for the 2022-2023 school year and entrance exam for grade 10 of high school for the 2023-2024 school year;

- Admission results notice for grade 10 high school, school year 2023-2024;

- Secondary school transcript (original);

- Graduation certificate (temporary) issued by the educational institution;

- A valid copy of birth certificate;

- Certificate of eligibility for preferential policies (if any) issued by a competent authority.

On August 2, the Admissions Council of high schools summarized the admission of students and sent a report to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, the 10th grade public school entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 6 and 7 with nearly 96,000 candidates taking the exam.

The total enrollment target of 114 public high schools is 77,294 students. Thus, there will be more than 18,000 candidates who fail to pass the public 10th grade entrance exam, forced to turn to private high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers, secondary schools...
