The art program "The River Tells Stories" is a tribute to the ancestors who reclaimed the land, generations of migrants who came to live, work, and fight to create and pass on the heritage of the river to future generations. Mr. Mai also said that the program is a greeting from Ho Chi Minh City, a peaceful river city, and also a message of readiness to cooperate with friends from all over the world to find ways to develop service economy on rivers and along rivers, exploiting the maximum potential and advantages of river and sea resources.
"The River Tells Stories" is an art program that recreates the main stages of the history of exploration, formation and development associated with the Saigon River. The program recreates the cultural, economic activities, and lifestyle on the wharfs and boats of the residents of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City for more than 300 years with 5 chapters: Reclamation - Building the citadel - On the wharfs and boats - Prosperous commercial port - Brilliant city by the river.
The program has the participation of more than 700 actors and actresses, residents of Ho Chi Minh City, and people from craft villages in the Mekong Delta. In addition, 30 restaurant ships, yachts, sailboats, canoes, wooden boats, river buses, speedboats, etc. operating tourism services in the city also participated in the parade. The program uses modern performance and interaction technologies such as: 3D lighting art on the entire floor of the onshore scene, water music system on the river, using high-power laser systems for each performance; flying performances on the water combined with light shows using unmanned aerial vehicles and fireworks.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, commented that the River Festival has exploited the values of the city's river and sea resources, contributing to positioning the city's brand - a river city rich in cultural identity. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism hopes that this festival will become a typical highlight of the city's tourism.
