According to the results of the national high school excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year just announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh City has 166 students winning prizes in 12 subjects, a sharp increase compared to the previous year (in 2024 there were 110 prizes) and ranked 2nd in the country, after Hanoi.

At the national high school excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year taking place on December 25-26, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City has 236 students participating in 12 subjects including: Math, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, literature, history, geography, English, French, Chinese, Japanese.
These are students from Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Gia Dinh, Mac Dinh Chi, Tran Phu, Tran Van Giau, Phu Nhuan, Tan Tuc, Nguyen Huu Huan, Ngo Quyen, Le Quy Don, Marie Curie, Trung Vuong, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Hoang Hoa Tham, Practice High School and Duc Tri Secondary and High School.
As a result, 166 students won prizes in the excellent student competition, including 6 first prizes, including: Three prizes in English went to students from Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted; One first prize in literature went to an 11th grade student from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted; One first prize in chemistry went to a student from Mac Dinh Chi High School; One first prize in biology went to a student from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.
This is also the year that Ho Chi Minh City reaped first prizes in many subjects. In previous years, the city's first prizes were almost exclusively in English.
According to the exam results, English and IT are the two subjects that Ho Chi Minh City has the most students winning prizes with 19 prizes each. Next are physics and chemistry with 18 prizes each; Math has 16 students winning prizes. Japanese is a new subject of this year's exam, Ho Chi Minh City students won 13 prizes. Biology and French each have 12 students winning prizes; Geography and Chinese have 11 prizes each; Literature has 9 prizes and History has 8 prizes.
According to the exam results of Ho Chi Minh City announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted are still the schools with the most students winning prizes. Next are Nguyen Thuong Hien, Mac Dinh Chi, Nguyen Huu Huan, Le Quy Don High Schools... In particular, many schools have students participating in the exam for the first time and winning prizes: Trung Vuong High School (encouraging prize in Japanese); Thuc Hanh High School (encouraging prize in Japanese); Nam Ky Khoi Nghia High School (encouraging prize in Chinese); Duc Tri Secondary and High School (second prize in Chinese); Hoang Hoa Tham High School (third prize in geography); Phu Nhuan High School (encouraging prize in history).
