This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the 10th grade benchmark scores one week earlier than many previous years.
Accordingly, in the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City this year, there are about 98,400 candidates participating in the subjects of literature, foreign language, math (if candidates register for regular 10th grade) and specialized/integrated subjects (if candidates register for specialized or integrated classes) in 2 days, June 6-7.
On June 20, the Department of Education and Training announced the 10th grade exam scores and on June 24, announced the 10th grade benchmark scores for specialized and integrated classes.
Candidates admitted to specialized and integrated grade 10 have confirmed their enrollment on the grade 10 admission system from June 25 to 29.
According to the Department of Education and Training's examination department, candidates who do not pass the specialized and integrated 10th grade entrance exam and candidates who pass the exam but do not confirm their enrollment will be considered for admission to regular 10th grade according to their 3 registered wishes.
According to regulations, after the period of candidates passing the specialized and integrated classes, the software system will process the remaining candidates' 3 regular grade 10 wishes. This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the regular grade 10 benchmark scores on July 3, one week earlier than expected (previous years were usually announced on July 10).
From the 10th grade exam score data this year of about 98,400 candidates, the number of candidates with a total score of 3 subjects from 20 points or more is 31,888 people, accounting for 32.24%; The number of candidates from 15 - 20 points is 38,470, accounting for 38.9%; The number of candidates from 10 - 15 points is 27,598, accounting for 27.91%; The number of candidates with a total score of 3 subjects below 10 is 4,140, accounting for 4.18%.
Compared to 2023, Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1), predicted that the benchmark scores of top 2 schools could decrease by nearly 2 points and the benchmark scores of bottom-ranked schools could be below 10 points.
Teacher Tran Tuan Anh, Thu Duc High School (Thu Duc City), said that the admission scores of top schools will decrease compared to last year, the specific level will depend on the number of quotas of each school. For schools with quotas equal to or lower than last year, the admission scores may decrease but not fluctuate much; while for schools with increased quotas, the scores will cool down.
According to Mr. Le Hoai Nam, after 10th grade students complete their admission application, depending on the actual number of students enrolled, the Department of Education and Training will develop a second round of enrollment plans for schools that have not yet met their enrollment quotas, in accordance with the actual situation of each high school to ensure enough places for students in the area. It is known that after the 2023 10th grade entrance exam, the Department of Education and Training has specifically counted the number of students enrolled and announced the additional enrollment of about 3,000 10th grade students for nearly 100 public high schools.
