In a post on the president’s website, Mr. Zelenskyy noted that his income had dropped in 2021 and even more in 2022, as Russia and Ukraine entered into conflict in late February. This was the first time he had made his income public.
In 2021, Mr. Zelenskyy and his family reported income of 10.8 million hryvnia ($286,168), down 12 million hryvnia from the previous year. The 2021 figure included income from the sale of $142,000 in government bonds.

In 2022, President Zelenskyy's family income fell to 3.7 million hryvnia as he earned less rental income from the real estate he owned due to the outbreak of war.
Mr Zelenskyy has called on officials to publicly disclose their income as part of efforts to increase transparency and eliminate corruption as Ukraine tries to meet strict requirements to join the European Union.
Western allies providing weapons and financial support, as well as international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, are seeking assurances for efforts to eradicate corruption.
The National Anti-Corruption Service of Ukraine, one of several agencies dedicated to exposing and eliminating corruption, last month reopened its register of declared incomes for public scrutiny.
