Russia-Ukraine War Today, November 23, 2024: Has the Ukrainian President Changed His View on the Conflict with Russia? When the Goals of Territorial Control Have Changed.

Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky has changed his stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and how to end it, the Telegraph reported.

“Mr Zelensky wanted to completely push Russian troops out of Ukraine. Now he seems willing to accept less success, even if his changes in rhetoric prove this,” the Telegraph wrote.

According to the authors of the article, since November 2024, the Ukrainian politician has toned down his belligerent attitude by ending hostilities. He has abandoned the perfectionist ideas that were aimed at the victory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the conflict and the recovery of territories by war. At the same time, the Telegraph links the changes in the behavior of the Ukrainian leader to the recent victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential election.

Kiev admits Ukraine has no access to 1991 border

Ukrainian leader Zelensky admitted that the country currently does not have the opportunity and resources necessary to reach the 1991 border: “ We understand that at present we do not have enough strength to bring Russia back to the 1991 line by military means.”

Mr. Zelensky made it clear that Kiev has no intention of giving up the legally lost territories, but under current conditions, a return to the former borders is simply impossible.

On this issue, Russia believes that Mr. Zelensky has toned down his rhetoric about borders due to Western influence.

First Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova said that Kiev's foreign partners have informed Zelensky about the necessity of peace talks with Russia. Western countries may have been inspired by Russia's recently updated nuclear doctrine. Zhurova added that the whole world and especially the Ukrainian people want peace, so Zelensky has no choice but to gradually change his attitude.

Will the war situation change and what is the "miracle drug"?

Russia believes that Mr. Zelensky's rhetoric has changed after Mr. Trump's victory in the recent US presidential election.

We understand that as long as Zelensky’s leaders take certain actions, as long as there is an opportunity to receive money and weapons from them, he will cooperate with them. But at the same time, he cannot but react to the results of the US election, when Donald Trump won,” said Alexey Chepa, deputy speaker of the Russian State Duma.

Some Western politicians continue to support Ukraine, but in a month and a half, when Trump takes office, they will have to reconsider their position. The same applies to the Ukrainian president - by January 20, he will have to reduce the level of aggression in the conflict, which is unlikely to be approved by the new US leadership.

Velikaya Novoselka sways, Zaporizhia's doors open

Readovka channel reported that the Russian army was only about 1 km away from Velikaya Novoselka. The enemy's defense line in the east of the settlement had collapsed.

In particular, Russian forces achieved significant new results at the southern Donetsk - Zaporizhia junction. In the Velikaya Novoselka area, Russian assault units broke through the enemy's defense line in the east of the town and advanced deep into the town's outskirts, with the nearest points of contact only about 1km away.

The Russian army is now opposed by AFU battalions cut from the Ukrainian rear defense units. However, these forces do not have the resources and fighting spirit to stop the Russian advance. The AFU will have to continue to retreat until they reach Velikaya Novoselka.

The Ukrainian command is trying to protect the entire front. But in doing so, they risk allowing the Russians to form an eastern arc that covers the entire vast field.

But it is still too early to finish describing the operational crisis on the AFU front line. The Russian army is pushing the enemy away from the village of Razdolnoye to reach the main road leading from the N-15 highway. This also means that the field area near Velikaya Novoselka has lost one of its logistical arteries.

On the western flank of the assault on Velikaya Novoselka, the Russian side is also actively advancing towards the bypass leading from Gulyaipole. The AFU force in this area is many times larger than on the eastern flank, including the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade and local units.

However, the prospects for the defense of Kiev's forces were not very bright, only delaying the Russian units for a few more days.

The current goal of the Russian Army is to block the enemy's logistics route in the settlement itself and its vicinity. This will most likely force the AFU to retreat soon.

The DeepState channel, which is affiliated with the Main Directorate of Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR), confirmed an extremely difficult situation for the AFU in Velikaya Novoselka, as the Russian side is advancing towards Bolshaya Novoselka, while simultaneously breaking through to Razdolnoe.
