White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced Biden's positive test result during a campaign trip to Las Vegas. "He has been vaccinated and has been given a booster, and he is currently experiencing mild symptoms," Jean-Pierre said.
As he boarded Air Force One to leave Las Vegas for Delaware, Biden told reporters: "Good, I feel good."

The illness comes at a crucial time for Mr Biden, who has lost ground in battleground states to Republican Donald Trump. The White House said Mr Biden had planned to spend a long weekend at his Delaware beach house.
Minutes after the announcement, the US President's motorcade moved to Las Vegas airport after giving a radio interview in the city.
Biden, who spent two nights in Vegas during the campaign, has steadfastly resisted calls to drop out. “He will return to Delaware, where he will self-isolate and continue to fully perform all of his duties during that time,” spokesman Jean-Pierre said.
On Wednesday, Mr Biden received further bad news when a prominent Democrat in the US House of Representatives, Adam Schiff of California, said it was time for him to “pass the torch” to someone else.
About 40% of registered Democrats said Mr. Biden should drop his bid for re-election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that ended on Tuesday. About 65% of registered independents agreed.
About 58% of registered Democrats said in the poll that they believe Mr. Biden is too old to serve in the U.S. government. Even 70% of registered independents agreed with that view.
