Over the past few days, more than 1,000 actors, artists and a crew of nearly 500 staff, technicians, backstage staff... have been working and practicing day and night to prepare for the program. All of them are 100% focused, and as General Director Le Hai Yen said, the entire crew is working with 500% of their energy and strength for the program. Every day, regardless of the unpredictable rain or shine, the entire crew, artists, actors... gather at the thousands of square meter stage at Nha Rong Khanh Hoi Port - Saigon Port to start practicing and completing technical items.
The rehearsal process these past days often started from early afternoon until late at night, many days until 5am. The show The River Tells Stories - Season 2 "The Legendary Train" gathered thousands of actors and extras. The content of the 5 chapters in this grand musical that is predicted to be a "blockbuster" is very complicated due to the interweaving of art and historical elements, and constantly changing... so it requires intense, meticulous, elaborate, detailed rehearsal... so each artist, actor, and extra must be very serious and practice hard.

The first images revealed of “The River Tells Stories” season 2 with the theme “Legendary Train” at Nha Rong Khanh Hoi Area - Saigon Port, although not yet completed, are enough to make viewers feel overwhelmed, satisfied and moved, affirming the high-intensity, methodical and professional work of the entire crew.
Through art, the “blockbuster” ballet with the combination of modern and cutting-edge theatrical elements is both highly artistically expressive and engraves in the hearts of the audience a historical story of Ho Chi Minh City, of the country that is easy to understand, easy to remember and easily touches the hearts of the audience… at the same time, the show is also highly entertaining, suitable for all audiences, including young audiences.
Many performances with unique and bold ideas of the show are truly surprising, such as taking place on a stage that is too large, overwhelming, the audience will feel like they are entering a "blockbuster" historical film on a continuously moving set, the scene is changed and moved like a movie, sometimes on the shore, sometimes on the river, sometimes on the ship causing surprise or the complex system of props is simulated realistically from careful historical research, the harmonious combination of historical elements, entertainment, high performing arts...

Not to mention, there are few programs that design thousands of costumes for each different performance, the costumes are all tailored for each actor, actress, character... creating an extremely cinematic atmosphere, authentic to history.
Although it was very hard to prepare and practice for the program, all the crew, artists and actors were excited for the show with a passionate love for the country and pride. Everyone hoped that their small efforts could contribute to an art program that would leave a prominent mark in the development of the cultural industry, attract tourism, and build and develop the city to become more and more beautiful.
Musician Duc Tri, in his role as the program’s music director, said: “I have always done entertainment programs, this is the first time I have participated in a special program about the festival. As a citizen of the city, I am truly honored to participate in this program. The historical significance of the program is an important reason for me to accept the invitation.”
Director Pham Hoang Nam, in his role as stage director, shared that although this year's program is more difficult and more challenging in terms of genre, when General Director Le Hai Yen chose musicals - a very challenging genre because musicals are usually performed in theaters, with sound, singing, acting and the audience needs to listen and watch at close range, here it is a large outdoor stage, far from the audience, so how can the audience still feel close, listen, watch, feel, and understand the story... at the same time, the program is also related to the story of the leader, how must we maintain the accuracy of historical documents, easy to feel, and at the same time have a generalized and conventional nature... but, he believes that with the love for the city and the country, with the talent and responsibility of the entire crew, the program will leave many impressions in the hearts of the audience.

Meanwhile, Chief Choreographer Tan Loc said that the crew decided to use many types of dance performances such as contemporary dance, jazz, hip hop, ballet... to express the content and chapters in the program. In addition, the program also uses circus language, sign language of the deaf... There will be attractive and very emotional performances. Despite many challenges, he expressed his belief in the determination of those who love the profession and work in the profession, love this city, he and the crew will try together to make the program as good as possible.
The special art program "Storytelling River" season 2 with the theme "Legendary Train" will take place from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on May 31, 2024 at Nha Rong Khanh Hoi Area - Saigon Port. The program will recreate and honor the heroic history of the Saigon River through the story of the trains. The program is an outdoor Grand Opera held for the first time on the Saigon River, combining elements of cinema, music and dance, along with the most modern performance technologies today to recreate a story about the nation's monumental history.
