The above information was given at a recent meeting of Yamanashi province with the participation of over 20 businesses receiving Vietnamese workers in the area.

NHK (Japan) quoted the Yamanashi prefectural government as saying that the move is aimed at helping to address the shortage of workers. The new insurance system will begin accepting applications from June 2024.

According to a Vietnamese company that uses this insurance service, the new health insurance system will help parents or spouses... living in the country of Vietnamese people working in Yamanashi Prefecture pay only 10% of the cost each time they receive medical treatment.

A representative of the Yamanashi prefectural government said that for companies that support insurance premiums for new members, the prefecture will subsidize a certain amount.

"We want to create an environment where Vietnamese people can work with peace of mind to solve the labor shortage," said Ms. Irikura Yukiko, Head of the Gender Equality and Promotion of Foreigners' Activities Division of Yamanashi Prefecture.

According to the report of the Department of Overseas Labor Management ( Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs ), in the first 4 months of 2024, Japan is still the leading market for labor export from Vietnam with 29,665 workers.
