Receiving and working with the delegation, the Governor of Saint Petersburg emphasized: Since 2020, when Vietnam became the first priority country in foreign affairs, the city has expanded its relations with Vietnamese localities. The heroic city in the 1941-1945 national defense war is very proud to sign a treaty with the land where the Vietnamese army and people successfully carried out the famous Dien Bien Phu campaign that shook the world in 1954. At the same time, many promising directions for cooperation development were proposed, such as: Education, economy, agricultural exports, tourism, and especially heritage conservation. The two sides agreed to soon discuss specific cooperation directions on the basis of the signed twinning agreement. The Governor pointed out that Russia and Vietnam, St. Petersburg and Dien Bien are preparing to celebrate two important events in the history of their countries: the 80th anniversary of St. Petersburg breaking the Nazi blockade during the Patriotic War and the 70th anniversary of the victory at Dien Bien Phu - "Vietnam's Stalingrad".
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong expressed: Dien Bien Province is very honored and excited to sign with the city an agreement on trade and tourism cooperation, especially on heritage conservation, museum exhibitions of documents, war relics, and the great victory of the Leningrad campaign and the Dien Bien Phu campaign. With the exhibition "Echoes of Dien Bien" in the city, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee believes that this is not only an opportunity to honor the historic victory, but also an opportunity to introduce to international friends the beauty and development potential of Dien Bien today - a land that is gradually changing strongly but still preserving its unique historical and cultural values.
According to the agreement on trade - economic, scientific - technical, social and humanistic cooperation , the two sides agreed on a number of contents such as: Developing cooperation in the fields of culture, trade and economy, science and technology as well as society and humanities on the principle of mutual benefit, understanding, respect and trust; promoting and facilitating the participation of organizations of both sides at fairs, exhibitions and other events, conducting information exchange in the fields; promoting and strengthening cultural, economic and trade cooperation between cultural and economic entities registered to operate in Saint-Petersburg city and cultural and economic entities registered to operate in Dien Bien province...
The photo exhibition “Echoes of Dien Bien” includes 57 documentary photos designed into 11 panels. What is special is that in addition to the documentary photos, the exhibition also features 22 sketches by the frontline artist - People's Artist Ngo Manh Lan, realistically recording the heroic battle of our soldiers in Dien Bien Phu, images of laborers overcoming bombs and mud to bring food and ammunition to the battlefield.
Within the framework of activities in the city, the delegation thoroughly learned about the experience of organizing exhibitions and conservation and restoration techniques at historical sites.
