At the seminar, Mr. Dang Khac Loi, Deputy Director of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) presented a paper: "Digital transformation of journalism and some experiences in Vietnam" saying: Digital transformation of journalism in Vietnam aims to build press agencies in a professional, humane, and modern direction; fulfilling the mission of information and propaganda to serve the revolutionary cause of the Party and the innovation cause of the country.

According to the assessment of the Ministry of Information and Communications , Vietnamese press has been gradually developing to adapt to the trends of technology, information and communication, closely combining many types and means and increasing coverage both domestically and internationally, gradually meeting the requirements and tasks of information and communication in the new situation.

Overview of the seminar.

Vietnamese revolutionary press is facing new difficulties and challenges, including both positive and volatile influences from the fourth industrial revolution and challenges and opportunities from the digital transformation process in the world and the national digital transformation process. In that situation, digital transformation of press and media agencies is a change in the whole and comprehensive way, including working methods, organizational models, and creative activities of press works, and an important change in the awareness and attitude of leaders, reporters, and editors of press agencies.

At the seminar, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, presented a paper on "Experience in handling fake news in Vietnam" saying: Currently, many people consider cyberspace as a second life, creating content that affects the community. At the same time, cross-border social networking platforms are increasingly developing in Vietnam, allowing users to post free content and exploit advertising. This also contributes to the increase in fake news and false information. Cross-border online platforms are where false information spreads very quickly.

In Vietnam, there are 4 major platforms: Zalo with 47 million users, YouTube with 63 million users, Facebook with 66 million users and TikTok with nearly 50 million users. Three of these four platforms, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, are places where false information spreads very quickly. Recently, Vietnam has implemented many actions with 3 main pillars in the fight against fake news and false information. The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information will share about how to fight fake news in cyberspace.

Also at the seminar, Mr. Phongsa Somsava, Department of Mass Communications, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos presented a paper on "Results of Vietnam - Laos cooperation in journalism and media training". According to the paper, on the current development of Lao press: Laos has 113 publications; The private sector has 13 issues, the public sector has 99 issues, of which 11 are daily newspapers; There are a total of 168 radio stations, of which 9 are central stations (7 FM stations, 2 AM stations), 75 local stations and 77 network stations. In addition, it has been broadcast via satellite and the Internet, covering 100% of the country's area and many countries in the world can hear it. Currently, the station can also broadcast via online communication systems. In addition, the National Radio also broadcasts programs in Vietnamese.

Laos has a total of 49 television stations, including 4 central stations, 3 private stations, 3 international stations, 4 central network stations and 29 local stations, of which 3 stations still broadcast on the ground, up-linked via satellite. , some provinces are broadcasting via cable TV, digital TV and 6 digital stations; In addition, there are representative offices of Vietnamese press in Laos such as VTV, VNA, VOV...

Mr. Duangkeo Kongkham, Head of Information Technology Department - Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos said: "Challenges of information and communication in Laos in the current context": Currently, the media are the main media agencies under the management of the government including: Lao National Radio, Lao National Television, Channel 1 and Channel 3. Lao News, Nhan Dan Newspaper and foreign newspapers. In addition, there are military radio, military television, peace protection television, military newspaper, peace protection newspaper. As for private media, there are Laostra TV, Memv Lao.

But they will mainly focus on entertainment and broadcasting signals from national radio and television on important days and daily news. Let's talk about the challenge for Lao media today when after online journalism has played a role in society, the income of people in each media is at an alarmingly low level, the reason is that online media is faster than Tanika and can reach the general audience while our mainstream media is slower to adapt to them, the development of information technology is suitable for people in the new era today, there are many people who can do online media and do it well, at the same time when the income of each media is decreasing, the enthusiasm of journalists is also decreasing.

The seminar on Vietnam - Laos cooperation prospects in the field of information and communication, with the hope of providing more useful information and practical solutions to enhance access to information for people in border areas, so that information and communication play an increasingly important role in promoting trade investment, tourism development, and border economy between border provinces between Vietnam and Laos.
