After the inspection, Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Trung Dung and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Linh chaired a working session with Huong Khe district on overcoming consequences and solutions to respond to natural disasters.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Huong Khe district, the whole district has 23 lakes and dams managed by Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited and 134 projects managed by the locality. Of these, many lakes and dams are at risk of being unsafe during the flood season.

During the recent floods, Huong Khe district had two dam structures broken (Tat dam, Hoa Hai commune and San dam, Gia Pho commune); some spillways were eroded (Khe Ruong dam, Huong Do commune; Ha Thong dam, Huong Xuan commune; Nha Tau dam, Huong Trach commune; Khe Vang dam, Huong Lien commune; Khe Tre dam, Phu Gia commune; Khe Coi dam, Ha Linh commune; Cay Chanh lake, Huong Trach commune). The total estimated damage from the recent floods was over 150 billion VND.
At the meeting, the leaders of Huong Khe district proposed that the provincial leaders consider and support funding for repairing Tat dam (about 13 billion VND) and San dam (about 10 billion VND). Support funding for handling landslides on the Phuc Trach - Huong Lien road and repairing the following routes: the road from Ho Chi Minh road to Huong Thuy commune; Provincial road 553; the road to Rao Tre village, Huong Lien commune; the road to Khe May farm area, Huong Do commune...

At the meeting, delegates discussed a number of solutions to support Huong Khe district in overcoming the consequences of floods; discussed solutions to ensure the safety of lakes, dams, landslide risk points and sustainable solutions to cut and reduce floods in the district.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Trung Dung said that although agencies and units had timely information on natural disaster forecasts, floods still caused severe damage in Huong Khe district.
After the flood, units, levels, sectors and localities have coordinated to effectively implement many solutions to overcome the consequences. In particular, Huong Khe district has proactively supported people to stabilize their lives, especially in supporting the search for missing people in the flood.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested Huong Khe district to continue implementing measures to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to supporting affected families, especially those who lost members in the flood. At the same time, it is necessary to carry out disinfection and epidemic prevention; and focus on restoring production.
The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that in order to have a sustainable and long-term solution, it is necessary to consider, research and plant forestry trees that play a role in water retention. In particular, the district and departments, branches and units coordinate to develop a comprehensive and long-term flood reduction and flood control plan to propose to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the coming time. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is requested to closely follow and provide guidance to localities in regulating water in reservoirs and irrigation dams appropriately during the rainy and flood season.
Regarding the Ho Ho Hydropower Plant, Huong Khe District needs to study and propose a flood reduction plan based on the direction of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep during his working trip to Ha Tinh at the end of October. Ho Ho Hydropower Plant needs to urgently implement post-flood cleanup, ensure the environment and reduce pressure on the dam body.
Regarding the landslide risk in Gia Pho commune, departments and branches coordinate with localities to advise effective solutions.
