Potential risks when fishing when river water is high

Although the water level on the Lo River is high, some people still ignore the danger and go to the area along the Lo River on Au Co Street, through Phuong Lau and Hung Lo communes, Viet Tri City to fish.

As of 4 p.m., the Lo River had flooded several houses and construction material storage areas along the river. Local authorities and relevant agencies are still closely monitoring to promptly warn people to proactively move their assets and accommodation to a safe place.

However, many people, including students, brought fishing equipment (fishing rods, nets, etc.) to fish and catch fish in the riverside area. Many passersby were worried when they saw even middle school students bringing fishing rods. Mr. Chu Duc Thinh (Zone 2, Duu Lau Ward, Viet Tri City) said: "Children are weak, if they are pulled by a big fish, they might fall into the river."

Fishing when river water is high is potentially risky

People brought chairs and hats to fish despite the rain and the rising river water. Some individuals discussed bringing electric shock devices to stimulate the fish. Families brought their children to the riverbank to watch the fishing, causing some sections of the road to be crowded with people and vehicles, obstructing traffic.

The People's Committees of Phuong Lau and Hung Lo communes have sent forces to patrol and remind people not to be subjective in fishing, fishing, or collecting firewood when the river water rises to avoid possible risks and dangers. They are requested to raise awareness so that storm and flood response work can be effectively implemented, minimizing damage to people and property.
