On the morning of July 4, in Hanoi, the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense held a conference to review the work on Population, Family and Children in the Army in the first 6 months of 2023. Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chairman of the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense chaired the conference.

Attending the conference were Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense; Major General Nguyen Hung Thang, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff of the General Department of Logistics, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense; and members of the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense.
Reporting at the conference by Colonel Tran Cong Truong, Deputy Director of the Military Medical Department, assessed: In the first 6 months of 2023, with the attention and leadership of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, Party committees and commanders at all levels; the work of Population, Family and Children in the Army was comprehensively and synchronously deployed, completing the set content and plan.

Notably: In units throughout the army, 100% of the Population, Family and Children Committees have been consolidated, improved, and maintained in orderly operation according to established regulations, implementing Population, Family and Children work in conjunction with the implementation of political tasks, building a strong and comprehensive unit and the Emulation Movement for Victory. Propaganda work has been promoted with many flexible, creative, rich and diverse forms, suitable to the characteristics and conditions of each agency and unit, contributing to creating strong changes in Population, Family and Children work.
Units have increased their attention and understanding of family circumstances, promptly supported, encouraged, and shared with soldiers and workers in difficult circumstances, families with disabled children or children with serious illnesses, provided medical examinations and treatment, and provided free medicine to local people where they were stationed... so that they could work with peace of mind and complete their tasks well. The work of supporting infertile and sterile people due to working in toxic, arduous, and dangerous environments has been actively implemented by agencies and units. In the first phase of 2023, the Council for reviewing and assessing infertile and sterile people working in the military proposed that the Ministry of National Defense support 138 cases with a total budget of nearly 7 billion VND. The Ministry of National Defense's Children's Support Fund supports hundreds of children of martyrs, children undergoing heart surgery and major surgery.

At the conference, delegates actively discussed and analyzed the results achieved, pointed out some difficulties, problems and shortcomings; proposed solutions and measures to improve the effectiveness of Population, Family and Children work in the Army from now until the end of the year. Many opinions agreed that the authorities need to do a good job of synthesizing specific data on cases of infertility; military families in especially difficult circumstances... to have timely and effective forms and measures of support.
Based on the opinions of the delegates, concluding the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh highly appreciated the role and responsibility of the member agencies of the Committee on Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense in implementing the plans and tasks for the first 6 months of 2023, and at the same time pointed out some remaining aspects and limitations that need to be overcome.
Regarding the direction of tasks in the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh requested the member agencies of the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense to continue to well implement the contents and targets of population, family and children work in the last 6 months of the year according to the plan determined from the beginning of the year. Increase attention, grasp the family situation, promptly support, share, encourage soldiers and workers to work with peace of mind. Continue to well implement the work of supporting cases of infertility and sterility; deploy many activities to care for, educate and protect children at all levels, especially the work of supporting children with disabilities, children with serious illnesses, orphans, children of martyrs, etc.
