The Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial People's Council held a regular meeting in February 2024

Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; delegates of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province;...

At the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council listened to and gave opinions on the plan, outline, and decision to establish a specialized supervision delegation of the Provincial People's Council on "Implementation of socio -economic goals and targets according to Resolution No. 18/2020/NQ-HDND dated December 13, 2020 of the Provincial People's Council on the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021 - 2025 of Nghe An province" (Resolution No. 18).

The monitoring aims to assess the implementation status and results of the socio-economic goals and targets under Resolution No. 18; the existing problems, difficulties, obstacles and causes, clarify the responsibilities of relevant levels, departments, branches and sectors in implementing Resolution No. 18/2020/NQ-HDND; thereby recommending solutions to complete the socio-economic goals and targets under Resolution No. 18 in the province in the coming time.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council discussed the scope, subjects, content and methods of supervision. Accordingly, the supervision delegation will be led by the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nam Dinh as Head of the delegation; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nhu Khoi as Deputy Head of the delegation and 5 members who are leaders of the Committees and Office of the National Assembly Delegation - Provincial People's Council.

The delegation will directly supervise through working with the Provincial People's Committee; a number of departments, branches and sectors; People's Committees of a number of districts, cities and towns; People's Committees of a number of communes and wards and related organizations and individuals; and at the same time supervise through reports of a number of sectors and People's Committees of the remaining districts and towns.

The content of supervision is to evaluate the achieved results; shortcomings, limitations, causes, responsibilities and propose solutions to complete the socio-economic goals and targets according to Resolution No. 18.

Concluding this content, emphasizing the importance of the supervision, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy - Chairman of the Provincial People's Council pointed out that, regarding the subjects and methods of supervision, the Delegation needs to work with the Provincial People's Committee in advance. On that basis, identify the difficult-to-achieve targets of the term, the issues that still have many obstacles. From there, the Delegation will identify specific departments, branches, and localities to directly supervise in conjunction with the difficult-to-achieve targets and obstacles that have been identified.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council agreed that the composition of the Supervisory Delegation should be compact to avoid causing trouble for the grassroots; when working with specific sectors and localities, it is possible to invite additional experts in the field in charge of that sector and the delegation of the Provincial People's Council in that locality to participate in the supervision; at the same time, it is noted that the People's Committees of all districts, cities and towns must have a report on the implementation of Resolution No. 18 to send to the Supervisory Delegation.

The establishment of the Supervisory Delegation is based on the previous basis, the Provincial People's Council passed Resolution No. 35/NQ-HDND dated July 7, 2023 on the Supervisory Program of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council in 2024; Resolution No. 84/NQ-HDND dated December 7, 2023 on the establishment of a specialized Supervisory Delegation on "the implementation of socio-economic goals and targets according to Resolution No. 18/2020/NQ-HDND dated December 13, 2020 of the Provincial People's Council on the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021 - 2025 of Nghe An province".

Also at the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council assessed the results of activities in February 2024; discussed and agreed on tasks for March 2024; and reported on people's petition work.
