On December 3, at a press conference right after the closing session of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said that the socio-economic situation in the last months of 2023 still has difficulties.

Although most businesses ensure livelihoods and jobs for workers, a number of businesses continue to lack orders; or for a long time under the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, many businesses have lost their resilience.

"We believe that this year's Tet salary and bonus will face many difficulties," said Mr. Hieu.

Faced with such a forecast, Mr. Hieu said that the General Confederation of Labor had directed the issuance of a plan to take care of workers during Tet very early.

Along with that, designing policies to care for the beneficiaries, besides support and gifts, the Union will organize free and discounted buses, trains, and planes to support workers to travel home for Tet.

Since early November 2023, the Department of Labor Relations and Wages (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) has submitted to the Ministry a request for localities to report on the 2024 salary and Tet bonus situation of enterprises for employees.

The deadline for reporting on the salary and bonus situation of enterprises this year is similar to last year, that is, December 25. Based on the synthesis of reports from localities, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has just released specific information.
