Professor Phan Man expressed his joy at the development in Vietnam-US relations. Two countries, two peoples, two cultures and two ideologies that are quite unfamiliar but are willing to sit together, move closer to become partners.

He hopes that the Vietnamese community, wherever they are, will come closer together to move towards a richer, more prosperous, and more civilized Vietnam.

"For a long time, I have always been deeply moved by a statement of the State: Overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part of the homeland, the people, and the country of Vietnam. How can we concretize this statement, what policies and activities of the Government can help our compatriots in the US experience this meaningful statement?" he sent to the Prime Minister.

Professor Phan Man hopes that the Government will always pay attention to the wishes of overseas talents who want to contribute to a prosperous Vietnam.

As the founder of a technology company in the US, Dr. Hung Tran expressed his joy when the Vietnam-US relationship was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership. That creates many opportunities for Vietnam to take advantage of building technological solutions to develop the digital economy.

The question is how to take advantage of such opportunities. According to Mr. Hung, the key is to build a high-quality technology workforce that Vietnam is lacking. Vietnamese people are very talented, and young people in Silicon Valley are willing to join hands to train a high-quality technology workforce to help Vietnam take advantage of the opportunities that the Vietnam-US relationship brings.

Currently, Vietnamese universities train 50,000 technology engineers, but only 12%, or 6,000 people, can do jobs equivalent to those of American engineers. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the training of this resource.

Ms. To Dieu Lien (President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in the US) also proposed a mechanism to gather Vietnamese talents in the US so that those with passion and expertise can contribute to the country.

The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure to meet the Vietnamese community in San Francisco and neighboring areas, and despite being far away, he still took time to meet the delegation.

Reviewing the Vietnam-US relationship in recent times, the Prime Minister emphasized the important significance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Joe Biden's announcement to upgrade the Vietnam-US relationship to a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership".

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam has completed its comprehensive strategic partnership with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and is now a comprehensive strategic partner with more than 30 countries around the world.

“Vietnam and the US have very unique and special characteristics. Our efforts from ending the war to normalization, ending hatred, and then to a comprehensive strategic partnership are a process, in which overseas Vietnamese have contributed,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister reiterated US President Joe Biden's assessment that "the Vietnamese community is a successful, creative community, making many positive contributions to the relationship between the two countries, and is a very fast-growing community."

The head of the Vietnamese Government expressed pride in promoting Vietnam-US relations with the contributions of overseas Vietnamese over the past decades to "put the past behind and look to the future", establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership like today.

That shows the stature and role of Vietnam in the world, the important position of Vietnam in the US's relations with countries around the world.

The Prime Minister reiterated in the joint statement that “the US respects our political system”. Therefore, the US President accepted the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit Vietnam and the General Secretary personally welcomed and held talks with the US President at the Central Party Office.

“A Communist Party General Secretary welcomed a US President, a world-leading economy, a world power, and issued a joint statement to show America's respect for our regime,” the Prime Minister emphasized once again.

In addition, the Prime Minister also said that the US supports Vietnam to be “strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous”. Previously, there was only “strong, independent and prosperous”, now there are two more words “self-reliant”. That shows that we must be self-reliant and develop from our own hands and minds.

The Prime Minister said that the Vietnamese community abroad currently has about 6 million people in 130 countries, but the US alone has 2.2 million people; the West Coast alone has more than 1 million Vietnamese people, of which 700,000 are in San Francisco. Of the 6 million people, 10% are intellectuals and scientists.

According to the head of the Vietnamese Government, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the US will reach more than 123 billion USD by 2022, making our country the 7th largest trade partner of the US..., the relationship between the two countries is getting better and better.

“The Vietnam-US relationship is a model in international relations, going from hatred and war to a comprehensive strategic partnership in a very short time. This is the effort of both sides,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Continue to "unite for success"

Reviewing the socio-economic situation in the country, the Prime Minister said that in the recent context, Vietnam has risen on its own. In 2022, growth will be over 8%, inflation will be 3%...

Although this year is more difficult, the situation is getting better, next month is better than last month, next quarter is better than last quarter.

The Prime Minister expressed his pride in the overseas Vietnamese community, which is an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation. Vietnamese people are proud wherever they go, successful wherever they go, and more successful each year.

The head of the Government hopes that overseas Vietnamese will continue to "unite for success", especially after upgrading the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership, which will open up many opportunities in trade and investment cooperation.

The Prime Minister believes that after upgrading relations, US investment in Vietnam will increase and trade relations between the two countries will develop further.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister invited overseas Vietnamese to enjoy an art program imbued with the "homegrown" identity of Vietnam.
