According to the Government Office , the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, members of the Government, leaders of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government; Mr. Dinh Van An - Assistant to the General Secretary... The meeting focused on discussing the socio-economic situation in May and the first 5 months of the year, the implementation of 3 national target programs, disbursement of public investment capital; key directions and management in June and the coming time. In his opening speech, reviewing some highlights of May and the first 5 months of 2024, the Prime Minister said that in general, the world situation continues to develop complicatedly and unpredictably, with some noteworthy points. In particular, fierce competition between major countries; escalating conflicts (in Ukraine, the Red Sea, the Gaza Strip); high USD and gold prices; strong fluctuations in crude oil, basic goods, and transportation services prices; and unclear trends in monetary policies in many countries. The world economy has shown signs of partial recovery, but major economies that are Vietnam's traditional markets are still facing difficulties.

Domestically, opportunities, advantages and difficulties, challenges are intertwined, but difficulties and challenges are more numerous, especially since our country is a developing country, the economy is in transition, the scale is still modest, the openness is high, the resilience is limited, a small fluctuation outside can have a big impact on the country. The Prime Minister assessed that in that context, thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system under the leadership of the Central Committee, directly and regularly by the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the socio-economic situation in May continued to trend positively, achieving better results than April, in general, the first 5 months were better than the same period in most areas. The highlight is that the direction and administration work is basically proactive, flexible, appropriate, drastic, and close to reality. Growth is promoted in all 3 sectors of industry, agriculture, and services; The macro economy is basically stable, inflation is under control, major balances are ensured, in which proactive plans are taken to ensure electricity supply during hot weather (although electricity consumption reached a record of over 1 billion KW/day). Strategic infrastructure projects in transportation and energy are strongly promoted. The fields of culture, society, institution building, anti-corruption, negativity, national defense, security, and foreign affairs are promoted; people's lives are improved; Vietnam's prestige and international position continue to be raised. In addition to the basic results achieved, we frankly acknowledge that there are still limitations, inadequacies, difficulties, and challenges, such as inflationary pressure, high exchange rates; real estate market, and difficult access to credit. Policy responses in some places are not timely; discipline and order are not strict in some places and at some times; there is still a situation of avoidance, shirking, and fear of responsibility; The situation of food poisoning, fire and explosion , crime is complicated, especially cyber security... The Prime Minister asked the delegates to focus on discussing in the spirit of reflecting "the right situation, the right nature, the right results", creating new momentum, new motivation, new victories. Therein, clearly identify the aspects that have been done, the aspects that have not been done, the causes and lessons learned; assess and comment on the situation in June and the coming time, what mechanisms, policies and solutions are needed, and focus on which areas. At the same time, clarify and propose specific solutions to promptly overcome the limitations, inadequacies and weaknesses that the National Assembly delegates mentioned at the ongoing 7th session.
