Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Lao Minister of Planning and Investment

On the afternoon of September 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Khamchen Vongphosy, Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee, and his delegation who are visiting and working in Vietnam.

Welcoming the Minister to Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believed that the visit would achieve many positive and substantive results, contributing to further tightening the relationship between the two countries' Cooperation Committees and the two countries' Planning and Investment sectors, thereby increasingly consolidating, nurturing and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in all fields.

The Prime Minister affirmed and believed that although the current world and regional situation is more complicated and unpredictable than before, with more challenges than opportunities, under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Lao Government, the brotherly country of Laos will successfully implement the plans and tasks set out; affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and giving the highest priority to preserving and developing the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, considering it a priceless asset of vital significance to the revolutionary cause of each country.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested the two Ministries of Planning and Investment and the Cooperation Committee of the two countries to closely coordinate, promote the ministries, branches, localities and relevant agencies of the two countries to actively implement assigned tasks, promote more and more effectively the existing close cooperation mechanisms, strongly promote the mechanism of the Cooperation Committee of the two countries, prepare well for the 46th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, successfully complete the agreement on the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan for 2023, contribute to concretizing the agreements of high-ranking leaders with specific products and results and creating new breakthroughs.

It is necessary to promote economic connectivity between the two countries, especially transport connectivity between the two countries such as the highway system, research and development of the Vientiane-Vung Ang railway; remove and resolve difficulties and obstacles to promote key cooperation projects and launch and implement new cooperation projects; promote investment activities of enterprises of the two countries with appropriate priority mechanisms and policies; promote strengths that can complement each other in terms of markets and raw materials; implement measures to increase trade turnover growth between the two countries... to support each other in overcoming difficulties and challenges, contributing to helping each country build an independent and self-reliant economy associated with proactive and active international integration, deep, substantive and comprehensive.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two countries continue to consolidate and strengthen political and diplomatic relations and contacts at ministries, sectors and localities; promote the pillars of cooperation in defense and security; closely coordinate to ensure political stability, security, order and social safety in each country, especially ensuring security on the border; and closely and effectively coordinate at multilateral forums.

Minister Khamchen Vongphosy thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him; congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in national construction and development in recent times and its recent important integration and foreign relations results; and sent Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone's regards and greetings to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Minister informed the results of the mid-term meeting of the Cooperation Committee between the two countries; requested that Vietnam continue to actively support Laos in organizing the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024; stated that the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee and he personally will continue to actively contribute to promoting cooperation between the two countries, concretizing the agreements and instructions of the two countries' senior leaders, including the contents that the Prime Minister had commented on, constantly strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos to be forever green and forever sustainable.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always stands shoulder to shoulder and will do its utmost to support Laos within its capacity, including supporting and assisting Laos to successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024.

On this occasion, through the Minister, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his regards and greetings to General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and other leaders of the Lao Party and State.
