On the morning of September 16, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a Vietnamese delegation to leave Hanoi to attend the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the 20th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning City, Guangxi Province (China) from September 16-17, at the invitation of the Government of the People's Republic of China.

The official delegation of Vietnam with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the CAEXPO Fair and CABIS Conference included: Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc; Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh; Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Doan; Deputy Minister of National Defense Vu Hai San; Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Deputy Head of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Thanh; Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Van Tuyen; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong; Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.

CAEXPO and CABIS are co-organized by China and ASEAN annually in Nanning City, Guangxi Province (China), and are among the top 10 exhibitions in China. In the previous 19 fairs, Vietnam has always had Government leaders attending and is the country with the largest number of booths and participating enterprises in ASEAN.

The 20th CAEXPO and CABIS this year have the theme of “Building a Common Home, a Community with a Shared Destiny for the Future – Promoting the Belt and Road Initiative for High-Quality Development and Building an Economic Growth Center”, as part of a series of events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership. The Vietnamese business delegation participating in the Fair continues to be the largest in ASEAN with 250 booths covering an area of ​​5,000 m2.

The Prime Minister's working trip this time continues the development trend and achieved many positive results in Vietnam - China relations, especially after the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the end of 2022 as well as high-level exchanges from the beginning of 2023 until now and most recently, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to China to attend the 14th Annual Pioneers Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin (China) in June 2023.

In 2022, the import-export turnover between Vietnam and China reached 175.56 billion USD. In the first 8 months of 2023, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and China reached 105.5 billion USD; China's investment reached nearly 1.3 billion USD with 399 projects, making it the second largest FDI investor in Vietnam. As of August 20, 2023, China maintained its 6th position out of 143 countries and territories investing FDI in Vietnam with 3,949 valid projects, with a total registered capital of more than 25.8 billion USD. China has been the leader in the number of tourists to Vietnam for many years. After a period of stagnation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the first 6 months of 2023, there were more than 557,000 Chinese visitors to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the 20th CAEXPO and CABIS demonstrates the importance that both countries attach to the Vietnam-China friendship, the ASEAN-China cooperation, and the relationship between Vietnamese localities and enterprises with Guangxi Province, China; demonstrates high political trust, the spirit of "comradeship and brotherhood"; affirms the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, independence, self-reliance, for peace, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.
