Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always accompanies foreign investors on the principle of "harmonious benefits and shared risks".
During his working trip to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, on January 16, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a discussion with global businesses on cooperation in developing artificial intelligence (AI), automobile technology, semiconductor chips and ecosystems related to these industries.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland and FPT Corporation, with the participation of leaders of ministries, sectors, localities and representatives of large corporations in the world such as Google, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Qualcomm, Siemens...
The Prime Minister said that Vietnam's socio-economic development strategy for 2021-2030 has clearly identified mobilizing all resources for rapid and sustainable development on the basis of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Among them, AI, semiconductors and the automobile industry are important industries, with both old development drivers that need to be renewed and new drivers for development. Vietnam has issued a development strategy in the field of AI, building national data centers connected to data centers of ministries, sectors and localities.

Regarding the semiconductor industry, Vietnam has identified this as a new driving force for development and will invest to participate in all three stages of the semiconductor chip value chain, including design, manufacturing and packaging. Regarding automobile technology, developing electric cars, using clean materials, low carbon emissions and investing in green transportation are issues of concern.
"To develop the above fields, Vietnam will continue to promote three strategic breakthroughs including strategic infrastructure, training high-quality human resources and perfecting institutions," the Prime Minister said, adding that these breakthroughs will facilitate and reduce compliance costs for businesses and people.
The Prime Minister hopes that businesses will continue to cooperate and invest effectively and sustainably in Vietnam. The Head of Government affirmed that Vietnam always accompanies and cooperates with investors on the principle of harmonious interests between the State, people and businesses, and at the same time shares risks.
Representatives of large corporations assessed that Vietnam has been attracting more and more corporations in the semiconductor industry. Many large corporations have been present and are planning to expand their investment in Vietnam such as Intel, Samsung, Amkor, Qualcomm, Infineon, Marvell, Hana Micron... The US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the Asia Semiconductor Association and a number of corporations and partners also highly appreciate Vietnam's potential in this field.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also informed about Vietnam's basic achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation and the fundamental factors, goals, and major orientations in national development.
In 2023, in the context of many difficulties and challenges, Vietnam still maintained macroeconomic stability, controlled inflation, and promoted growth. By the end of the year, Vietnam had attracted nearly 37 billion USD in registered FDI capital and disbursed about 23 billion USD.
Answering a delegate’s question about the secret to Vietnam’s success, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam has always been steadfast in creatively applying Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought and the nation’s thousands of years of glorious historical and cultural traditions. Vietnam has also promoted the spirit of self-reliance, relying on internal strength as a foundation, while receiving support and assistance from international friends.
