The 32nd Diplomatic Conference opened on December 19 with the theme "Promoting the pioneering role, building a comprehensive, modern, and strong diplomacy, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress".
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since the 13th National Party Congress and the National Foreign Affairs Conference, foreign affairs and diplomacy have closely followed the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, the directions of the Politburo, the Secretariat and Party and State leaders, especially the directions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Foreign Affairs Conference, while strongly promoting the identity of "Vietnam's bamboo diplomacy".

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, thoroughly grasping the policy set forth by the 13th National Party Congress on "building an economic diplomacy serving development with people, localities and businesses as the center of service", under the close direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, directly and regularly by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers, economic diplomacy has made new developments in a more comprehensive, substantive and effective direction.
Specifically, it has thoroughly grasped and synchronously and uniformly implemented the Party's major policies and orientations on economic diplomacy; promoted the pioneering role of foreign affairs in mobilizing external resources, making important contributions to the successful implementation of the task of both preventing and effectively controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting socio-economic recovery and development; well implemented the policy of "taking people, localities and enterprises as the center of service" in economic diplomacy activities; implemented economic diplomacy with many aspects that have been innovated and more creative, promoting the combined strength and coordination of sectors and levels.
Making an important contribution to the overall achievements of the diplomatic sector, economic diplomacy activities have expanded and deepened economic cooperation with many partners, contributing to ensuring macroeconomic stability, major balances, promoting economic growth, boosting import and export, attracting many new resources, including FDI, ODA, science and technology, bringing Vietnam into the group of 40 largest economies in the world and the top 20 economies in terms of trade and attracting foreign investment.
The plenary session will focus on discussing two issues: First, assessing and forecasting the international economic situation, especially clarifying the turning points and major trends of the world and regional economy. Second, objectively and comprehensively assessing the results and achievements of economic diplomacy since the beginning of the 13th tenure, especially since the issuance of Directive No. 15 of the Secretariat and the Government's Action Program on economic diplomacy, in which the results will be clarified and deepened, and lessons learned will be drawn.
