On the morning of February 10, a working delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep inspected the evacuation work in Hai Duong.
Receiving the delegation were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant agencies and units.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep and the delegation directly visited the Ba Doat culvert project in Long Xuyen commune (Binh Giang). This project has just completed upgrading at the end of 2024 with investment capital from the Central Government, with the task of taking irrigation and drainage water through Dinh Dao canal for more than 600 hectares of agricultural land in Hong Khe, Tan Viet, and Long Xuyen communes.
After listening to the report, comrade Nguyen Hoang Hiep acknowledged and commended the proactiveness and positivity of Hai Duong province in implementing the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop flooding work. He requested the province to continue directing relevant agencies, units and localities to mobilize maximum human resources, means and machinery to continue to take water for flooding, ensuring that 100% of the area has enough water for planting on schedule. After completing the flooding, continue to store and ensure sufficient water for irrigation of rice and vegetables.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that if necessary, he will direct the operation of the Xuan Quan sluice field pumping station to supply power to the system. He requested that the Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. closely monitor the water source during the regulation process. If water is found to be polluted, it is necessary to coordinate and provide timely information to advise people to minimize negative impacts on production.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Hanoi People's Committee, and Hung Yen province to direct localities and functional units to strengthen inspection and examination, promptly prevent and handle water pollution points, and discharge points in upstream areas that do not ensure quality into the water source of the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system...
The Deputy Minister suggested that the province continue to pay attention to renovating and upgrading irrigation works from capital invested by the Central Government; repairing pumping stations, dredging canals, repairing inland banks... to promote efficiency in serving agricultural production and people's lives in the area.
According to the leader of the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd., although there are still difficulties, the dumping work for the winter-spring crop this year in Hai Duong has basically gone relatively smoothly thanks to the proactive planning from early on. The water source in some main canals in the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system is less polluted than last year. The highland areas far from the main canals are continuing to be pumped, ensuring that 100% of the area is planted on schedule.
As of February 10, Hai Duong has 4 localities that have completed the flood control work: Chi Linh City, Thanh Ha, Tu Ky and Ninh Giang. The remaining localities have flooded 97 - 98% of the area. Kinh Mon town alone, because it still depends on the onion and garlic harvest season, has only been able to flood about 35% of the area so far.
Currently, localities are taking advantage of the second water discharge from Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir (from February 8 to 14) to continue taking water to flood the remaining areas and store water in the fields for production.
