Recall of Gia Minh baby shower gel products due to quality violations

The Drug Administration of Vietnam, Ministry of Health has issued a notice to suspend circulation and recall nationwide a number of cosmetic batches that do not meet quality standards, causing concern among consumers.

Specifically, the product Gia Minh Baby Shower Gel (box of 1 bottle of 180ml) has been suspended from circulation and recalled nationwide. This product batch has production number 082024, production date 19/8/2024, expiry date until 18/8/2027. The product is granted the Receipt of Declaration number 185/24/CBMP-HY.

The reason for the recall is that the test sample did not meet the quality standards for the limit of microorganisms in cosmetics according to current regulations.

This product is brought to market by HD Gia Minh Trading Company Limited (Thuan Thanh Town, Bac Ninh ) and manufactured by Quang Xanh Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company Limited (Van Lam District, Hung Yen).

Along with Gia Minh shower gel, the batch of 3 in 1 SH Today Hai Duong Cosmetics Melasma Cream (box of 1 bottle of 15g) was also recalled. This product has the SCB Declaration receipt number: 005217/19/CBMP-HCM, batch number 0404024, manufactured on April 8, 2024 and has an expiry date of 3 years from the date of manufacture.

Hai Duong Cosmetics Production and Trading Company Limited (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) is the unit responsible for bringing products to market and manufacturing.

The reason for the recall is that the product contains Propylparaben, a substance that is not included in the product formula approved in the Cosmetic Declaration Form.

In addition, the batch of Nairem Collagen Whitening Cream (box of 1 bottle of 8g, batch number 01, production date June 14, 2024) has also been suspended from circulation nationwide because it does not meet quality standards. This product is manufactured by Nhat Viet Cosmetics Production and Trading One Member Co., Ltd. (Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City) and is responsible for bringing it to the market.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam has requested local health departments to notify cosmetic businesses and users to immediately stop distributing and using the recalled products and return them to the suppliers.

At the same time, recall and destroy batches of violating products, inspect and supervise the implementation of relevant units and strictly handle violations according to current regulations.

Previously, to manage cosmetics, the Ministry of Health issued Directive No. 3873/BYT-VPB on strengthening the management of cosmetic products.

This document emphasizes the discovery of many violations related to fake cosmetic products of unknown origin on social networking sites, causing confusion among consumers.

The Ministry of Health has directed the Drug Administration, the Ministry of Health Inspectorate, and the Departments of Health of provinces and cities to strengthen inspection and examination work, especially regarding the origin and advertising information of products.

Authorities need to proactively coordinate with market management to promptly detect cases of production and trading of fake cosmetics, counterfeit brands or false advertising of effects. These violations will be strictly handled according to regulations.
