(NLDO)- The project to produce emergency exit doors on the wings of A321neo aircraft in Vietnam has been implemented by Airbus and its partners for nearly 2 years.

At the press conference on December 18, Ms. Hoang Tri Mai , General Director of Airbus Vietnam, answered questions from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper about the project to produce emergency exit doors on the wings for the A321neo - Airbus's best-selling narrow-body aircraft in the world - in Vietnam.

Ms. Hoang Tri Mai said that the project has been implemented for nearly 2 years. During that time, Airbus experts from European countries such as France and Germany were sent to Vietnam to work with the team of MHI Vietnam to develop this project.

"Early last September, we were very pleased when the first batch was delivered to Airbus factories in Europe, specifically in Germany, to be assembled on Airbus aircraft flying around the world," said Ms. Hoang Tri Mai.

These exit doors are being manufactured in Hanoi by MHI Vietnam, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Japan.

The wing-mounted emergency exits installed on the A321neo are intended for use in emergency situations only and are equipped with an automatic opening function in cases where rapid evacuation is required.

After the contract between Airbus and MHI was signed in 2023, Airbus sent experts from France and Germany to Vietnam to work closely with MHI, and directly guide and train Vietnamese human resources.

By bringing production to Vietnam, Airbus not only enhances its manufacturing capacity but also ensures flexibility in the global supply chain, helping to reduce lead times and increase production capacity of the world’s best-selling A320 aircraft. In addition, this strategic move by Airbus also contributes to the development of Vietnam’s economy through the creation of highly skilled jobs and skills development for workers.

The latest production project with MHI Vietnam continues Airbus’ industrial collaborations in the Vietnamese market, currently creating jobs for around 1,500 local workers. Current Airbus suppliers include Artus and Nikkiso Vietnam.
