The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will conduct the draw for the 2023/24 Champions League group stage at 11:00 p.m. on August 31 (Vietnam time) in Monaco.

This is the 69th season of Europe's premier club competition and the 32nd season since it was renamed the UEFA Champions League.

Currently, the organizing committee has identified 26 teams that have won tickets to the Champions League group stage, of which England, Spain, Germany and Italy each contribute 4 teams.

The remaining 6 spots will be determined after the play-off round taking place in the early morning of August 30 and 31.

Champions League group stage draw information

As every year, the 32 teams participating in the Champions League will be divided equally into 4 seed groups.

Group 1 includes the reigning champions of the Champions League, Europa League and the top 6 European leagues (England, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and Portugal).

Due to Manchester City winning the Champions League and the 2022/23 Premier League, the final spot in pot 1 is awarded to Dutch champions Feyenoord.

Thus, the number 1 seed group will include the clubs: Manchester City, Sevilla, Barcelona, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica and Feyenoord.

The remaining three seeding pots will be divided based on the coefficient points of each tournament, corresponding to the UEFA coefficient.

According to the draw rules, teams from the same country cannot meet in the group stage.

As planned, the 2023/24 Champions League group stage will begin on September 20 and end on December 14.

The matches take place in midweek, consisting of 6 matches. The 4 teams in the same group will compete in a double round-robin format.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage, while the third-placed teams in each group will be relegated to the UEFA Europa League.

After determining the 16 names to continue, the organizing committee will conduct the draw ceremony for the round of 16 on December 18.

The first legs of the first knockout round will take place in February 2024 (14, 15, 21, 22) and the second legs in March 2023 (6, 7, 13, 14).

UEFA will then draw the quarter-finals and semi-finals. The quarter-finals will be played on April 10 and 11, with the return legs on April 17 and 18. The semi-finals will be played on May 1 and 2, with the return legs on May 8 and 9.

This season's Champions League final will be held at Wembley Stadium (London, England) on June 2, 2024.
