Candidates for the education major are confused as the school temporarily suspends enrollment.

Recently, a candidate applying for primaryeducation at Dong A University shared his concerns when he suddenly received a notice to proactively choose another major close to the date of announcement of admission results.

According to this candidate, he passed the primary education exam at Dong A University ( Da Nang ) and received a notice from the school. Because he was sure of a university place, he only left one wish, and the school also announced that the first batch would officially enroll on August 21.

"I have already paid a deposit, rented a room and bought everything. At 5:40 p.m. on August 19, the school sent a text message asking me to proactively choose another admission wish," the candidate was confused.

According to the candidate, after receiving the notification message from the school, this candidate called the consulting board of Dong A University to know more precisely and was told: "This year, the Ministry of Education and Training has regulations like this, applicable to all private schools" and the school advised to choose another major.

Many other candidates also received the announcement from Dong A University. "Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is temporarily suspending enrollment in pedagogical majors at a number of schools across the country to seek opinions on adjusting Decree 116 of the Government . Therefore, the school informs you to proactively choose other admission wishes. If you choose majors at Dong A University, the school will grant a scholarship of 70% of the first semester tuition," said a candidate.

On the afternoon of August 20, speaking with Thanh Nien reporters about the issue that candidates reported, Dr. Do Trong Tuan, Vice Principal of Dong A University, confirmed that since the afternoon of August 19, the school has sent a notice to candidates applying for admission to the pedagogy major.

According to Dr. Do Trong Tuan, Dong A University is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training to enroll 40 majors, including 2 majors related to the pedagogical sector: preschool education and primary education. Every year, when the admission period comes, the Ministry of Education and Training grants enrollment quotas to the school. This year, the school has registered enrollment quotas and candidates have registered on the Ministry of Education and Training's enrollment software. However, due to the adjustment of Decree 116 of the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training has not yet granted enrollment quotas for the two majors of preschool education and primary education.

"On the evening of August 18, when the Ministry of Education and Training announced the enrollment of two majors in preschool and primary education, the school's Admissions Council met to discuss the plan and immediately notified the candidates so that they could be proactive. The early information was given so that the students would have time to think about their wishes and choose a school. The deadline for finalizing the admission results is August 24," Dr. Tuan informed.

According to Dr. Do Trong Tuan, in the announcement sent out by the school, it clearly stated that if candidates continue to choose another major at Dong A University, the school will award a scholarship of 70% of the first semester tuition to the candidates.

The Vice President of Dong A University also added that the fact that enrollment quotas for the pedagogical major have not been assigned is a common situation for a number of universities across the country. Therefore, Dr. Trong Tuan believes that relevant units need to promote comments and amendments to Decree 116 for early promulgation and also to "remove difficulties" for pedagogical training schools.
