Currently, more than 100 universities nationwide have announced early admission scores, in which most schools note: "Candidates wishing to enroll at the school need to accurately register the school code and major that meets the admission requirements as their first choice on the system, to be officially recognized as admitted."

Do I need to register early for a major that I have been admitted to?

After receiving the early admission results of universities, many candidates and parents are still wondering how to use these results.

Right in the announcement of early admission scores, universities all noted that candidates who meet the admission requirements must register their admission wishes and confirm their admission on the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training or on the National Public Service Portal to be able to complete admission procedures at the school.

Most schools require: "If a candidate decides to enroll in a school for a major that meets the admission requirements (not including the requirement of graduating from high school), this major must be placed in the first choice.

If the candidate does not register his/her wishes or the candidate registers for the following eligible majors (2, 3, 4...) and has been admitted to the previous wishes, the candidate will not be recognized as admitted to the school according to the major for which he/she has met the admission requirements.

Many candidates and parents still do not clearly understand this requirement of the schools so they are quite confused.

"I have been admitted to 7 universities through early admission methods, but I still haven't been admitted to my favorite major or school, so I still want to continue applying using my high school graduation exam scores.

However, all of the above schools require you to register for one major that meets the admission requirements on the system. So can I still register for admission?", Thu Huyen, a candidate in Ho Chi Minh City, wondered.

Many parents are concerned: "The Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that schools are not allowed to require candidates to register their first choice for candidates who have been admitted early, but many schools still do so. If a school requires this, if a candidate does not register their first choice, will the early admission results be canceled?"

Besides, many candidates still do not understand the principles of registering for admission, some still think that if they have been admitted, they do not need to register anymore...

If you have met the admission requirements, you must register your application for admission.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, senior specialist of the Department of Higher Education - Ministry of Education and Training, said that regarding early admission registration, all schools have updated the list of candidates eligible for early admission to the general admission system, as required by the ministry.

According to the ministry's regulations, all candidates who are eligible for early admission must be put on the system for processing their wishes if they register for admission.

From July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30 , eligible candidates must register, adjust, and supplement their admission wishes (unlimited number of times) for majors/groups of majors or training programs online on the common system.

When candidates receive early admission notices (with conditions) for their early admission wishes from schools, this is not yet an official admission result.

Candidates who have met the early admission requirements of the schools will have to enter their early admission wishes into the ministry's general admission system and pay the admission fee corresponding to the number of registered wishes to be valid.

"If the candidate has met the conditions for early admission and registered the first choice of major and school in the ministry's system, he/she will definitely pass. In case the wishes have been admitted early but are not the most favorite major, the candidate can rank later.

At that time, candidates register their admission wishes by considering their high school graduation exam scores above. After the admission process, if the candidates do not pass the majors they want, the system will still consider the majors they are eligible for early admission," said Mr. Hung.

MSc. Le Van Hien, in charge of the training department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, further explained: "Each candidate can only be admitted to one wish. If the candidate wants to enter a school first, he/she should put the name of the major and the school on the first wish. In fact, all schools pay attention to this, and do not require candidates to register their wishes for majors that have met the conditions for early admission."

Ban universities from requiring early admission confirmation

The Ministry of Education and Training has also specifically noted that schools are not allowed to request or agree with candidates to commit to or confirm early admission in any form (paying deposit fees, keeping records...).

Schools must require all candidates to confirm their admission online on the system, before enrolling at the school.

Candidates must not be required to confirm admission or enroll before August 19 and must not complete confirmation of admission or enrollment before 5:00 p.m. on August 27 (including for joint training programs with foreign countries).
