Recently, candidates applying for the Primary Education program at Dong A University (Da Nang City) shared their worries when, close to the announcement date of university admission results, they suddenly received a request from the school to change their wishes.
According to the sharing, this candidate applied for admission to the Primary Education major at Dong A University based on his high school transcript and was accepted and received a notice from the school. Because he was sure of his "place" in the university, he only left one wish, and the school also announced that the first batch would officially enroll on August 21.
"I have paid a deposit, rented a room and bought all my belongings. At 5:40 p.m. on August 19, the school sent me a text message asking me to proactively choose another admission option," the worried candidate shared.
After receiving the notification message from the school, this candidate called the consulting board of Dong A University to know more precisely and was answered: "This year, the Ministry of Education and Training has regulations like this, applicable to all private schools and other major consulting schools".
Dong A University.
According to research, many other candidates also received a notice from Dong A University with the content: "Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is temporarily suspending enrollment in the Pedagogy group at a number of schools across the country to seek opinions to adjust Decree 116 of the Government. Therefore, the school informs you to proactively choose other admission wishes. If you choose majors at Dong A University, the school will grant a scholarship of 70% of the first semester tuition."
Speaking with VietNamNet, Dr. Do Trong Tuan, Vice Principal of Dong A University, said that among the training majors that the Ministry of Education and Training allows to enroll students, there are two majors related to the pedagogical sector: Preschool Education and Primary Education.
According to Mr. Tuan, in previous years, the school registered its enrollment quota, and when it came time for the admission exam, the Ministry of Education and Training granted the quota. In particular, in 2022, the school submitted its enrollment quota and was granted it by the Ministry of Education and Training on August 19. This year, the school registered its enrollment quota and candidates registered on the Ministry of Education and Training's enrollment software. However, on August 18, the Ministry of Education and Training responded that it would not assign enrollment quotas for the two majors of Preschool Education and Primary Education.
"After that, the school implemented the next plan and notified the candidates so that they could proactively consider changing their wishes and choosing a school," Mr. Tuan said.
This person added that according to statistics on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission software, there are 109 students applying for primary education and 36 students applying for preschool education at the school. Currently, the school has a plan for candidates to be able to transfer to any major in the school's available majors, and secondly, to support 70% of the first semester tuition so that students can feel secure in changing majors. In addition, the school will work with the Ministry of Education and Training to consider whether or not to transfer students to other schools.
" The school is actively working to ensure the rights of candidates. Up to now, about 80% of them have agreed to change to another major to continue studying at the school," said Mr. Tuan. The leader of Dong A University also said that the fact that the Ministry of Education and Training has not been assigned enrollment quotas for the pedagogical major is a common situation at many universities across the country.
Regarding this issue, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that the school's continued enrollment without being granted quotas for the two majors of Preschool Education and Primary Education was wrong, so it was necessary to find ways to overcome the consequences that arose.
For candidates who have registered for the pedagogical majors of these schools, they can choose to study other majors (because they have made many admission wishes to avoid risks) or participate in additional admission rounds of schools with pedagogical majors (if any) until the end of December 2023.
